What features suggest E coli infection?
•Diarrhoea
•Haematuria
•Child’s age
•Fever
•Rapid onset
Haemolytic uraemic syndrome
• Generally starts with diarrhoea (can be bloody)
• Cramps
• Verocytotoxin-producing E coli (VTEC)
• 10% of VTEC cases thought to develop HUS
