NEW UMYF BIBLE STUDY AND FUN ACTIVITIES BEGIN NOVEMBER 3RD!

The Bible has so much to say to us in our present-day lives! This won't feel anything like Sunday School, as much as you may have loved Sunday School in the past. The challenges of your lives are different now, and during this time together we'll talk about those. There will be fun and getting to know others, some things to think about, and some to do. For parts of the discussion, we may have break-outs for different age groups. There's no book for this group -- we'll have some handouts for you.

We are working on a mission project that we can do right here in Pasadena and will tell you more along the way.

We'll be meeting every other week on Sundays from 6-7 PM in the Pastor's Study and Fellowship Hall, to allow time for your fall activities. For this fall, our meeting dates will be November 3 and 17, and December 8. On December 1, we're planning a time for family fun "Family Holiday Event." We'll be making wreaths and Christmas ornaments and sharing a simple meal. Then we'll go to the Sanctuary and hear Christmas carols and sing. Maybe you would like to help read a few Psalms. And don't forget the pumpkin carving that Mrs. Carolyn has planned at church for October 27 -- sounds like lots of fun! We'd also encourage you to help out with the Live Nativity on December 22 that will take place during our regular meeting time. People of all ages participate and you can also help behind the scenes.

Our UMYF Teen Bible Study will be led by Mike Seibert, Mike Stumpfoll, and Pastor Marshall. Come out and give it a try – and come when you can! And bring a friend, if you like!

A BIG THANK YOU TO MARK WISE

The Trustees would like to thank Mark Wise for volunteering to undertake a project to enrich the soil and plant grass around the flagpole and Love Garden. He was working hard on this endeavor for many hours on a very warm Sunday afternoon! It is looking great and is a vast improvement. Thanks, Mark, on behalf of us all at PUMC!

MAKE  A  DIFFERENCE!    VOLUNTEER  AT  PES!

Pasadena   Elementary   School,   our   neighborhood   school,   is   in   need   of  volunteers   to   work   with   children   (K-‐1)   learning   the   alphabet   and   practicing  reading.   If   you   can  give   an  hour  once  a  week  or   twice   a  month,   you  would   find   it  very  rewarding.

All  you  need  to  do  is  complete  some  paperwork,  watch  a  video,  and  show  up  at  the  school  ready  to  help.    Please  email  or  talk  to  Debbie  Jester,  [email protected],  if  you  are  interested.

What   a   great   way   to   represent   our   church   in   the   community   and   make   a  difference  for  the  children  and  the  teachers  in  our  schools!

This  would  be  helping  to  support  Bishop  Matthews’  call  to  our  churches  to  be  more  involved  with  our  schools.

Electronic Offering at PUMC – E-Giving is the answer all of the time, but especially during summertime! How can I keep up with my offering when I’m not in the pew? E-giving is the answer. I used to forget my checkbook or even my envelopes, now I don’t worry at all. My check arrives at the church twice a month whether I’m in church that Sunday or not. Working with my bank, I was able to use their FREE bill pay service to establish a bi-weekly payment to the church. Transfers can be created on a recurring basis: weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. It is completely within my control and quicker for me to cancel or change if my circumstances require. What are the benefits of automating contributions?

1. You are taking a step of faith – When you sign up to give automatically you are deciding in advance to faithfully give. God blesses that kind of faith!

2. You make your life a little bit simpler – You don’t need to remember whether you gave this month. And if you are out of town or on vacation, you don’t need to think about it. You don't even have to remember to write a check each week and bring it to church Sunday morning.

3. You will be helping the church – Every person who gives through automatic giving makes our record keeping easier and helps ensure continuous monthly cash flow to cover ministry expenses particularly during the summer vacation months.

4. You can focus on worship at church – Instead of having to get out a pen and write out an envelope and check, you can focus entirely on worship.

5. There are no processing fees - 100% of your gift goes to Pasadena United Methodist Church.

6. You'll still receive envelopes - You can supplement your electronic contributions at any time.

For most banks you can create this transfer action directly online at the bank's website or by phone. No coordination, notification, or action by PUMC is required. Our Financial Secretary will receive notification of your funds transfer to ensure proper annotation to your giving records for the annual statement of giving that you can use for income tax filing. Your church envelopes can be used to supplement your offerings whenever you like.

1. Establish Pasadena United Methodist Church as a Payee.

2. Provide your bank with your offering envelope number, either as an "account number" or in a "memo" option within the payment statement.

3. Verify that the bank has the correct church address and phone number [61 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122; (410) 647-3090].

4. Relax and enjoy the service!

If you’re interested, I’d be happy to talk with you about my experience. Or you could contact Wilma Robley, the church’s financial secretary for more information. Andy Lentz [email protected] 410-599-9945
