Video Editing Workshop

The PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication

organized a five-day workshop on Adobe Premier Pro Software

Video Editing free of cost to the participants from February 8 to

13 2021 at the Computer Lab of SDM PG Centre.

Mr. Krishnaprashant, Executive SDM E-Resource Centre Mr.

Rakshith Rai, Editing Director, SDM Multimedia Studio introduced

various dimensions of video editing and analyzed the

conceptual and technical processes of editing with the practical guidance. As the first innovative step of

the institution to enable students to earn while learning,

workshop provided foundational training on the concept of

editing.

Dr Bhaskara Hegade, Head of the Department, inaugurated

the workshop. Dr. P. Vishwanath, Dean, SDM PG Studies,

distributed the certificates to 35 participants. Mr. Madhava

Holla, Assistant Professor, Mr. Sunil Hegade, Executive

Producer, SDM Multimedia Studio were present on the occasion.

Workshop on Micro Lab for Personality Development

The Department of PG Studies in Commerce organized a workshop on “Micro Lab for Personality

Development” in association with RUDSETI, Ujire for M.Com first Year students on 24 February 2021 at

RUDSETI Campus, Ujire. Mr. James and Mrs. Anusuya, Trainers, RUDSETI trained the students in simulated

experiments. Mr. Hiramath, Director, Rudseti, Ujire coordinated the event and students of first year enjoyed

the activity based learning in a simulated environment.

Webinar on Quantitative Analysis of Qualitative Variables and Measurement Scales

The Department of PG Studies in Statistics organized a State level Webinar on "Quantitative Analysis of

Qualitative Variables and Measurement Scales" on 27th February 2021 from 11:30am to 1:00pm. The

resource person was Dr. Angan Sengupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Management, Amrita Vishwa

Vidyapeetham, Bangalore. The objective was to make the participants understand regarding the

importance and scope of categorical data analysis. Prof. Shanthiprakash, Head, Department of PG

Studies in Statistics, welcomed and introduced the resource person to the participants. The resource

person spoke about various concepts involved in analyzing qualitative variables and measurement scales

with real-life examples. Around 50 participants from various disciplines attended the webinar. Mr. Pradeep

K., Assistant Professor, Department of PG Studies in Statistics, coordinated the programme. Ms. Akshatha

Mangalore University Inter Collegiate Cricket Tournament

The Department of Physical Education organised MUIC Zonal

Men’s Cricket (Belthangadi & Bantawal) from 27 to 28 February

2021. 3 teams of the MUIC Zonal level participated in the

tournament. SDM College team bagged the winner’s trophy,

Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar and Government First

Grade College, Belthangady bagged second and third place respectively. The inaugural session of the

tournament was presided over by Dr. Satheshchandra. S, Principal, SDM College, Ujire, Dr. Kumara Hegde B

A, Associate Professor, Department of Botany was the Guest of honour.

• The Department of PG Studies in Commerce organized a Guest Lecture on “Article Review” for

M.Com first year students on 17 February 2021 through Google Meet. Dr. Sengottuvel. Assistant

Professor, Department of Commerce, Gobi Arts and Science College delivered the lecture on the

process of literature review. He emphasized that article review is the first step in the research world.

He pointed out the possible areas of mistakes in review of research papers and also highlighted

the scope of research areas for commerce students.

• The Department of PG Studies in Social Work, SDM PG Centre, organized an interaction

programme on “Sammilana – Manada Maathu Sneha Sethu” on 27 February 2021 for I and II MSW

students. Programme was coordinated by Dr. Chitra B.C, Assistant. Professor, PG Studies in Social

“Commemorating Pulwama Martyrs” on 15 February 2021. The chief guests of the programme were

M.V Bhat and Gopalakrishna Kanchodu. Dr. Vishwanath P, Dean, SDM PG Centre presided the

program. Prof. Ravishankar KR, HOD, Department of PG Studies in Social Work, delivered

introductory note. The program was organized by I MSW students.

The Department of Mathematics organised an Alumni Interaction on 20 February 2021. Mr. Dheeraj, System

Analyst in MNC at Bangalore discussed about the various job opportunities available after pursuing Bsc

Maths. Staff members of the Department held a discussion with him about the industrial application of

Mathematics & how to update curriculum by the introduction of new job oriented software.

Ball Badminton team (Women) of the college has won third place in ‘MUIC Ball Badminton Tournament for

women 2020-21’ held at GFGC Punjalkatte on 27 February 2021.

The students of weight lifting of the college have won Overall championship in Karnataka State Sub-Junior

and Junior Weight Lifting Championship 2020-21 held at Alva’s college Moodabidri on 20 February 2021.
