DESCRIPTIONE 135 is an SBR, multipurpose, concentrated, liquid polymer additive which when used withsand/cement, greatly improves the workabilityand consistency. It can also be used as anadmix for renders / screeds creatingworkability and consistency. E 135 can beapplied to damp surfaces (Saturated Surfaceno standing water) and can be rendered orpainted over.
SURFACE PREPARATIONThe surface to be treated should be clean, sound, free from oil, grease, laitance, dust, wax, polish and other barrier materials.
New concrete should be allowed to cure forat least 28 days.
New brickwork walls, sand / cement render orscreeds should be left for at least 7 daysbefore application of the Polymer bondingagent water resistant or binder coat.
APPLICATION AREAE 135 should be shake well before use.As a binder coat prior to applying renders ortoppings. As an admix for sand / cement mixesespecially in repair mortars, fillets, covings, renders and screeds. Prior to application ofPolymer bonding agent water resistant orbinder coat.
MIXINGAdmix for render / screed / coving: Mix 1 PartPolymer bonding agent with 3 parts water anduse as the gauging mix (mixing water) with a3 : 1 or 4 : 1 sand / cement mix.
Binder coat : 1 part E 135 : 1 part water :3 parts cement (by volume).
SLURRY COATMix to a thin binder and spread the mix over
the surface with brush or roller, or smallbroom. Maximum thickness recommended is2 mm. While the binder coat is still wet, applyrender or screed over it.Render/CovingApply binder coat on the prepared surface. While the binder coat is wet apply the Polymerbonding agent mortar mix with a wood floattrowel, ensuring firm pressure on the trowel towork the render into good contact with thesurface.
ScreedA minimum thickness of 15mm isrecommended when using diluted Polymer
bonding agent instead of water. For athickness greater than 40mm, reinforcing meshis required.
Using a roller, brush or a flat trowel, coat theprepared area with a binder coat of Polymerbonding agent to improve adhesion to thesubstrate.Apply the screed mix whilst the binder coat isstill wet using a straight edge, trowel or timberbatten to level the screed.
Achieve falls in shower recesses to a minimum1 : 60 : internal wet areas(eg bathrooms) to a minimum of 1 : 80 : andexternal areas to a minimum of 1 : 100.
Screeds should be left with a wood float finishto create a key for tiling and waterproofing. When reinforcing the screed with mesh, applyfirst layer of screed, lay in the mesh and applythe second layer of the screed. Do not lay themesh directly onto the substrate.
DRYING TIMEApproximately 16 hours (overnight) at 23 C and50% relative humidity when used for render /screed.
CURINGOn completion of the application, the surfacearea should be thoroughly cured withARDEX ENDURA C 20 concrete curing
compound or conventional water curing.
