    DXX SYSTEM

    Bandwidth Manager.

DXX node can be described as a digital

MUX equipped with several Trunks andAccess interfaces.

Often referred to as a flexible

multiplexer orFlexMux", reflecting theflexible implementation of differentinterface connections.

    DXX System (Contd.)

Enables the provision of lower/sub rate trafficas compared to other media e.g., from DigitalExchanges we can provide only Analog voice,

    BRI (2B+D) i.e 128Kbps and PRI (30B+D).

Can provide a variety of data and speechbands sub and Super-rate multiplexing up to2Mb/s

Supports all modern technologies e.g, ATM, FR& ISDN.

    Dial Up.

A component in Windows 95and Windows 98thatenables you to connect your computer to a network via amodem.

If your computer is not connected to a LAN, and you want toconnect to the Internet, you need to configure Dial-UpNetworking (DUN)to dial a Point of Presence (POP)and log intothe Internet Service Provider (ISP). ISP will need to providecertain information, such as the gateway address and yourcomputer's IP address. (Now it is supported automatically)

You access (DUN) through the My Computericon. Differentprofiles (called a connectiod)for different online services can beconfigured. Once configured, a connectiod shortcut can becopied to a desktop. By double-clicking the connectiod icon, aconnection can be established.

    ISDN.

The Integrated Services Digital Network(ISDN) is a set of international standards foraccess to advanced, all-digital publictelecommunications networks. The key

    elements of this definition are:

    Integrated Services:

under distributed control using common standards.

ISDN standards have been defined by the ITU-T , a

branch of the United Nations' International

Telecommunications Union (ITU), in the series I

    and Q recommendations.

    ISDN (BRI).

    Basic RateAccess (2B+D)

It contains two Bearer (B) channels 64 Kbpsand one signaling channel (D) 16 Kbps.

So that a total bit rate of 144 Kbps is

available on a single twisted copper pair.

Bearer channels are basically for voice or Dataand D channel Is for signaling.

    Advantages of DXX

    Efficient utilization of existingtransmission bandwidth/infrastructure.

Compatible with new emergingstandards and future technologies.

    Video conferencing, integrated voice,

data management, ISDN, ATM, FrameRelay and SDH back bone network onsame platform.

    Advantages contd

During a major fault, traffic can be re-routedautomatically, so that existing traffic is un-affected

The operator can also assign various servicecategories to the customers so that theoperator's most valuable business is alwaysprotected

Both of the systems Newbridge & Tellabs havecompatibility for frame relay and ATMtechnology, which is expected to come toPakistan in near future
