Scorer and Assistant Scorer

GENERAL ASPECTS
• The Scorers’ work is very important
• Example: VIDEO
• The Scoresheet is the only official document
of match
Before the Match
• Make sure you have reserve devices (glasses,
pen, ruler (if doing paper score sheet), etc.)
Before the Match
• If the team has 13-14 players in the O2-bis, what happens
depends on the competition:
– Prepare the score sheet recording only 12 players on
the score sheet;
– use the names and numbers of team members on the
scoresheet based on the information in Bulletin No. 1 –
2nd name and initial
– CARE: NO NICKNAMES, M MEANS MEDICAL
DOCTOR, LIBERO ONLY IN THE SPECIAL LINES!
Where 14 players can play...
• If the team has 13-14 players and is allowed to FIELD all
of them in the match,
• verify that there are TWO Liberos (2 are mandatory if
more than 12 players are on the score sheet)
– Prepare the scoresheet recording all 14 players on the
scoresheet;
– use the names and numbers of team members on the
scoresheet based on the information in Bulletin No. 1 –
2nd name and initial
– CARE: NO NICKNAMES, M MEANS MEDICAL
DOCTOR, LIBERO ONLY IN THE SPECIAL LINES!
Before the Match
• Coaches and Team Captains should sign the
score sheet after the coin toss at the scorer’s
table
• If the team has more than one Libero Player, the
Coach must identify the Starting Libero at the
time of the coin toss. This Libero must line up
next to the team captain; the other at the end of
the line.
Before the Match
• If the match is delayed past the scheduled match time, the correct time for the first serve should be entered and a Remark made explaining the delay.Text should be created by 1st referee or RefereeingDelegate
• Starting time: 10 minutes past official time torecord also to headlines!
• Possible Reasons for Delay:– Prolongation of the previous match
– Equipment problems;
During the Match
• At the beginning of each set, check the line-up
on the court by the numbers on the score
sheet for that set at the same time the 2nd
referee checks the line-ups by the numbers
on the line-up sheet or on post tablet
During the Match
• Check the number of the serving player for each
rally!!!!
• If the server is incorrect, advise the 2nd referee of
the fault
During the Match
• When a legal substitute enters the substitution
zone, acknowledge the request for
substitutionWhen you complete the registration of
the substitution, raise both hands to show the 2nd
referee you are ready to resume the match.
• DO NOT WAIT to be asked if you are ready: if
you are good, the raised two hands will be even
before the exchange of players on the side line.
During the Match
• If there are substitutions from both sides during
the same interruption, acknowledge each
separately, indicating the side you are
acknowledging and administering first. VIDEO
• For multiple substitutions, complete the
registration for each substitution, then raise both
hands and continue with the next substitution.
During the Match
• Notify the 2nd referee when:
– A team requests their second time out for the set.
– A team requests their 5th or 6th substitution for the set.
– THIS IS A DUTY.

GENERAL PRINCIPLE:
Sanctions to record only based on instruction of
2nd referee!
Assistant Scorer
• Main duties
– Controls Libero replacements
– Maintains control of reserve score sheet
Assistant Scorer
• Control the manual scoreboard
• Check the electronic scoreboard for accuracy
• Keep time during Technical Time-outs.
Assistant Scorer
• During Time-outs and Technical Time-outs, show
the 2nd referee the location of the Libero Players
on both sides
• Keep time during the set intervals
