Colloquium-like day First in 2013 and second held in 2015 Combination of lectures and multiple hands-on sessions Many people started or restarted with amateur satellites!

How it all started

No satellite activities on a national level in NL AMSAT-NL too busy building satellites Just a ‘community day’ would be perfect! How to start?

First Sat Day 2013 - Paasloo

No idea about number of participants30 subscribed, but many more during popular talks!

Same day as a national ‘radio rally' nearby Perfect location, excellent weather Young, old, male, female and even amateurs from Belgium. Great audience – Big success!


Second Sat Day 2015 - Apeldoorn

Initially only small room available, will 30 people fit? We closed the registration after reaching 100 participants! Again a mixture of people

including student for STEM like project Big boost for amateur satellite hobby in NL

Lessons Learned

Program a bit too crowded … … but nice full for an overwhelming satellite experience … Space hardware available is really great Not our ‘own’ event, sometimes difficult for planning Both presenting and organizing is a bit busy …. Big step to start such an event Don’t under-estimate 100 participants! Very broad audience to target

Existing sat users, but also many new (many novice licensees) Renewed satellite amateurs

“Hey, these LEO sats are cool and relatively easy”
