PRINCIPALS MESSAGE
AWESOME FOURSOME!!
Congratulations to our relay team, Jack, Zac, Kenta & Callan,
who came third (by 0.02 seconds) in the North Coast Athletics.
They are now off to Sydney early next term to compete at the
Sydney Athletic Centre in the NSW PSSA Athletics Carnival. The
whole school is extremely proud of their efforts. What a fantastic
experience for the students from such a small school to be able
to compete at State level at the former Olympic Stadium.

Term 3 and will be replaced by Mr Baker who will continue with

K-2 NEWS Congratulations to Miss McEwan who has completed her Bachelor of Education. Miss McEwan will be flying out to the United Kingdom on 16 September on a working holiday, to begin her teaching career in London. We wish her the very best. As a conclusion to our unit of work on ’Celebrations’, we have been learning about the people of India who celebrate Diwali. Sarita Needham (Dipisha & Esha’s mum) bought in some beautiful clothes to show us AND dress up. Sarita then surprised us by providing a Diwali feast to taste the foods of India. We sincerely thank Sarita and appreciate the huge effort she went to in providing such a banquet (she even made enough for the whole school!) YUM!!!
PRIMARY NEWS - CRICKET GALA DAY
Last Tuesday provided plenty of sunshine for a day of cricket during the Cricket Gala Day held at Murwillumbah. Thank you again to the parents and carers who provided transport to and from the event. Participation at events such as this would be difficult without the help and support of our wonderful parents and carers. Our senior boys’ team and junior girls’ team were engaged in 4 games of modified cricket with other local schools. The
modified game ensured all players were actively participating including the quick rotation of fielders and 2 over play for
each batting player. Brett, a coach from Milo Cricket, was impressed with the increasing skill level of our students.
Brett has facilitated cricket clinics at our school over the last two years. Any family wanting to participate in cricket
outside of school should contact their nearest cricket club for information.
LIBRARY VISIT
To celebrate Book Week the whole school visited the Kingscliff Branch of the Tweed Richmond Library. As a result of
this visit students and staff gained an insight into the resources and services provided by the library and also had an
opportunity to further explore books shortlisted for the Australian Children’s Book of the Year. These books are also
available in the school library for students to borrow.
The library offers a wide range of services including homework help, online tutoring, book, e-book, DVD and CD
borrowing. All of these services are free for library members including computer and wireless Internet use.
As well the library arranged for Ann and her dog Jake from Story Dogs to meet the students and share some of her
favourite books from the shortlisted collection. Our students really enjoyed the opportunity to listen to Ann in the
presence of her very friendly dog. Ann and Jake hope to visit the school soon. It was very rewarding to see students
reading and using the library’s resources during our visit.
