For JavaScript and AJAX support on Apple and Android, you need over 44 test devices
Mobile video requires over 50 formats
A typical iPhone OS update requires full site regression test, new development, deployment… time and money
All this and then add Gaming Consoles, TVs, In-Car Navigation Systems, Tablets and eBooks!

Problem With Grouped Device Sites
Most solutions use a 3 tier rendering solution
However by grouping devices you have to work to lowest common feature
Many device capabilities get ignored = degraded end user experience = lower revenue / ad yield

HTML5 & Mobile
April 12, 2011 © Netbiscuits GmbH 2011 12
HTML5 provides limited mobile support, even on Apple, Android and BlackBerry devices
HTML5 does not really bring any 'new' features to the market, it simply enables a different way of doing things
HTML5 does not necessarily enable features or advantages across all platforms, it’s a “standard in motion” that is implemented differently on many platforms
Mobile sites must still be developed and rendered to ensure best experience across devices and platforms
So HTML5 will work on all devices, right?

Rich UI: App Vs Mobile Web App?

eBay using rich UI features including the Gallery Biscuit.
Wall Street Online with pre-loaded tabs.
Hybrid Apps are now vital for many strategies.
Mobile Sites vs Apps
“When discussing traffic numbers on a device basis, I think it’s important to note that we’ve actively diverted millions of users from
our mobile website m.ebay.com to our iPhone, Android and BlackBerry apps. However, despite us proactively diverting traffic, mobile web revenue growth is increasing at the same pace as our mobile app business. Therefore, it is important to have a mobile
strategy that includes both mobile sites and apps.”
