AHA (PI: James)

Exploring menopausal and gonadal hormonal effects on intracerebral hemorrhage

This project will define the sex-specific differences in recovery after intracerebral hemorrhage in

humans. Further, it will determine associations between gonadal hormones and outcome after

intracerebral hemorrhage. These data will be used to gonadal hormones for potential therapeutic

development through future R01 funding. There is no overlap with the proposed project.

Treatment Paradigm for Severe Traumatic Brain Injury

This trial is designed as a multicenter, prospective, randomized, adaptive Phase II trial to assess

efficacy in patients with severe TBI of the combination of treatment parameters (pressure and

intervening normobaric hyperoxia [NBH]) that is most likely to demonstrate improvement in the

rate of good neurological outcome versus control in a subsequent confirmatory trial.
