Dubstep originated in

south London, England.

Its overall sound has been

described as "tightly

coiled productions with

overwhelming bass lines

and reverberant drum

patterns, clipped samples,

and occasional vocals”

Dubsetp is produced

using sequencers,

synthesizers, turntables,

samplers, drum machines

and computers.

So, what exactly IS Dubstep?

Like Techno and House music, dubstep is another genre of electronic dance music. The underlying sound is extremely similar to House music, but dubstep artists feature more clipped samples and occasional vocals, while House music is typically only instrumentals.

Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music which includes bass drops, which is when the percussion pauses and resumes with a greater intensity, and wobble bass.

The genre's feel is typically dark; tracks frequently use a minor key and can feature dissonant harmonies such as the tri-tone interval within a riff. Other features often found are the use of samples of other songs, a propulsive, sparse rhythm, and an almost omnipresent sub-bass.

Magnetic Man is an electronic music project consisting of dubstep producers and DJs, Benga, Skream and Artwork.

They first met in the late 1990s at the Big Apple Records store in Croydon,England.

They perform using three computers, one playing drum samples, one playing basses and the third playing leads and samples

They have one album out, called Magnetic Man, which was released: 11 October 2010

Christopher Mercer, more commonly known as Rusko, is an English dubstep record producer and DJ who was born on 26 January 1985 in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England.

Rusko graduated from Leeds College of Music with a degree in Music Production.

Rusko's newest album release is titled OMG and was released on Mad Decent Records on 3 May 2010 in the United Kingdom and 4 May 2010 in the United States

Chase & Status are an electronic production duo from London consisting of Saul "Chase" Milton and Will "Status" Kennard.

Their album More Than Alot received the Best Album Award at the 2009 Drum and Bass awards, Birmingham, UK.

In 2009 Chase & Status founded the independent record label MTA Records, specialising in drum and bass and dubstep music.
