There then are jump cuts that make the woman’s silhouette flash across the screen doing strong poses, this editing technique reminds me of a type of cartoon animation. The jump shots are synchronized to the beat of the music that is playing showing the music playing is diegetic. The music sounds as if it includes instruments like the saxophone and is from the jazz genre which can link into the year of the movie of 1989, when this genre of music was most popular.
0.03 the woman does a pose showing off her muscles this could connote to the audience that the movie is about empowering woman as well as showing that it’s about fighting.O.21In the opening it opens with warm colors. The lighting and color changes to a deep red as it zoom in which can signify to audience danger is soon coming. Also the style and pace of her dancing contributes to the dangerous atmosphere as she starts using aggressive movements. The camera pans forward to females face while she begins to dance in a loose, carefree and not in a choreographed manner.0.47The background appearance is dark and dull, it then changes into a red which immediately connotes blood and danger.
0.51As the music continues here you can hear a distance sound of a car engine coming closer to towards the woman as the camera pans forward also towards the woman which could connote danger is coming her way. The juxtaposition between the scene and the tittle is clear as the colors in the shot are dark whereas the colors in the tittles are bright and funky. When the title sequence start to appear the audience will be able to make links to the year and genre immanently just by the font and colors. During the opening I like how they used the element of dance to express the emotion of anger through to the audience.At she is wearing a boxing costume, this is a representation of gender rejection the idea of woman in boxing. This contradicts the idea that woman are not masculine.
