Provided outreach presentations on Medical Amnesty following the implementation of the FSU policy. Facilitated and supported the Garnet and Gold Scholar Society, which inducted 92 students, a 61% increase from 2011. Celebrated four decades of access during Disability Awareness Week, recognizing the progress made throughout the history of disability support services. In 2012, approximately 2,000 students registered for services at the Student Disability Resource Center. Commemorated the 50th Year of Integration. e Student Government Association co-sponsored the university- wide celebration including the Hand in Hand Across Time Program and speaker Maya Angelou. Hosted the second annual campus-wide TEDxFSU where over 100 students, faculty, staff, and community members heard “ideas worth spreading” from notable speakers and performing acts. Partnered with the Alumni Association and Senior Class Council to create the 100 Days to Graduation Career Center website listing events and programs that are summative to the student experience at FSU and increase career readiness. Administered the Graduating Senior Survey with campus partners to track students’ post-college plans. In fall 2012, 92% of graduating seniors completed the assessment. e Oglesby Union welcomed and engaged 35,039 participants during Seminole Sensation Week. Since 2008, over 130,000 students have participated in the programs and activities. University Housing opened Traditions Hall, a new residence hall creating additional on-campus apartment-style space for 276 upperclassmen students. e new 170,000 square foot Health & Wellness Center opened in fall 2012. e following entities have space in the new facility: University Health Services, College of Nursing, College of Human Sciences Athletic Training Program, and Campus Recreation. Dance Marathon hosted 1,650 dancers and raised $584,023.89, both record numbers, for Children’s Miracle Network at Shands Children’s Hospital and the FSU College of Medicine’s Pediatric Outreach Programs. e Center for Leadership & Social Change facilitated community involvement with over 4,055 students who participated in ServScript, documenting 273,305.25 hours of community service. 2012 Highlights

Building Community

• Welcomed 9,245 students and 9,522 family members to the University community and worked with over 18,000 family members through Family Connection.

• Campus Recreation introduced a new Group Fitness Instructor Training Course. The 7-week course prepared attendees to lead a variety of group fitness sessions.

• University Counseling Center provided “NOLES CARE… You Can Make a Difference” Suicide Prevention Training to 746 faculty and staff.

• The Center for Global Engagement enrolled 399 students in the Global Pathways Certificate with 34 students earning the certificate.

• Through the Dean of Students Department, 512 people signed the Hazing Free Community Pledge, a 66% increase in community participation.

• The Center for Leadership & Social Change, in partnership with the College of Education, Educational Leadership & Policy Studies department, taught nine leadership courses with a total enrollment of 398 students, a 6% increase from 2011.

• Ninety students participated in four Leadership LOGIC (Learning in the Outdoors for Group and Individual Change) Programs at the Reservation. The Center for Leadership & Social Change and Campus Recreation collaborated to provide students with this unique leadership opportunity.

Educate Leaders to Make a Difference

Integrate Learning

Health & Wellness

• The Center for Global Engagement prepared 151 students to make the most of their opportunities abroad and increase intercultural competencies through multiple course offerings.

• Student Government Association sponsored the Golden Tribe Lecture Series, featuring speakers Cornel West, Jonathan Haidt and Wesley Clark. The mission of the Golden Tribe Lecture Series is to engage students in issues and dialogue that will positively benefit their overall academic, scholastic, or humanitarian experience.

• The Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (C.A.R.E.) established the Unconquered Scholars Program to serve students previously classified as members of

foster care, relative care, wards of the State, or homeless in an effort to increase the peer support and engagement activities for this at-risk population at FSU.

• University Housing collaborated with Academic Affairs to provide 425 first-year students with an exceptionally rich and engaging residential learning experience in seven Living-Learning Communities.

• The Career Center conducted 510 mock interviews, a 40% increase in interviews from the prior year. Mock interviews help to better prepare students for interviews pertaining to internships, graduate school, and full or part time employment.

• Campus Recreation provided programs and services to 23,657 students, over 63% of the student population, with a total patronage of 1,384,065 students, faculty, and staff participating in one or more activities.

• The University Counseling Center offered free and anonymous online self-assessment tools and enhanced mental health information through the Counseling Center website. Students completed 1,585 online screenings in 2012, representing a 15% increase compared to 2011.

• University Health Services implemented AlcoholEdu, an evidenced based online alcohol course for incoming freshmen.

• The Victim Advocate Program collaborated with academic departments and other campus partners to provide 670 students with emotional support and services to help minimize the impact their victimizations had on their academics.
