    Introduction

This publication provides basic information for the planning and

    installation of OWAtecta® ceilingsystems.

The information contained within this guide is based on our recom-

mendations and those contained within the current EuropeanStandards (EN 13964). Inline with improving standards and tech-

niques please make sure you are using the current* issues of both

    documents.

As a manufacturer and supplier, we offer complete, tried and tested

ceiling systems. OWA ceiling systems can be used to achieve

    practical and visual results.

In all cases the correct installation of the ceiling is essential to ensure

that the ceiling can fulfil any such requirements.

In order for the OWA ceiling to provide a high level of

performance, it must be installed in accordance with the

relevant test report, assessment or those recommenda-tions provided by OWA.

Failure to use the specified components or comply with

the installation recommendations will invalidate any test

    report, assessment or warranty.

      As a rule, OWAtecta®

tiles and construction parts comply with firebehaviour A1 according to DIN EN 13501-1. The respective

fire resistance classes of non-woven backings must be taken into

    consideration.

     OWAtecta® – structural components

A structural component in the sense of EN 13501-2 is not just the

suspended ceiling itself, but the entire construction – consisting of

supporting floor or soffit and suspended ceiling or of roof and sus-

pended ceiling. This entire construction should prevent the penetra-

tion of fire for as long as possible. In this context not only the material

of the ceiling, but also the fire behaviour of the suspending construc-

    tion is of great significance.

    Basic planning

An OWA ceiling is installed using dry construction methods and is

generally for interior use only. The basic principles of dry construction

should be applied when installing the ceilings. Where additional

materials such as timber or gypsum are used, the guidelines on

working with those products should also be observed.

    Site conditions

Before installing an OWA ceiling, the room/site conditions should be

assessed. The area should be weather tight (windows and doors in

place) and have a stable, dry environment. The ceiling should only be

installed after the wet trades, such as plaster- and screed-work have

been completed and the environment is dry and stable.

    Reference values for site environments

Generally the relative humidity should be < 70 % RH (reference

temperature 25 °C; conditions suitable for tradesmen‘s work, roomtemperature > 7 °C), but it is recommended that installation should

take place at temperature and humidity levels similar to those that will

    prevail during subsequent occupation.

     Standards for suspended ceilings

    Since 1st January 2005, a so-called co-existence period has applied

for the standard EN 13964 (Requirements and test procedures

for suspended ceilings) and the appropriate national standard for

suspended ceilings in all EU States. During this phase, both of the EN

and the individual National Standards remained valid.

Following the expiry of the co-existence period on 30th June 2007,

only EN 13964 will continue to be valid.

The difference in ΔE value within one production batch may not ex-

ceed a value of 1.0. Where the materials used are from more than one

production batch the tolerance may be greater than Δ E = 1.0. Grea-

ter variation may be expected when installing materials purchased as

individual orders over extended periods of time.

    Sound

OWAtecta® ceiling systems can fulfill a wide range of functions

relating to the control of sound.

    Optimising room acoustics

In many rooms, the correct reverberation time T [s] is required for

good comprehension of speech or appreciation of music. Similarly,

in noise-intensive production facilities or workshops, the greatest

possible sound level reduction is required to make the environment

    more comfortable.

    Reverberation time regulation Tsoll [s]

    Noise level reduction ΔL [dB]

The four following standards contain the basics of measuring room

acoustics. The requirements for specific applications depend on local

or country regulations; we suggest you ask our local sales offices for

    guidance.

    –  DIN 18041 “Audibility in small to medium-sized rooms”Edition May 2004

    –  VDI 2569 ”Noise Reduction and Acoustic Design in the office”

    Edition January 1990

    –  EU guideline 2003/10/EG ”Noise in the Workplace”

    –  BGV B3 (Noise) January 1990 (update January 1997)

This list is not defi nitive and other standards or regulations may be applicable.

    Optimising building acoustics

OWAtecta® ceiling systems can be used to reduce and control air-

borne sound generated from the cavity and adjacent rooms especially

when combined with additional infill elements, such as OWAcoustic®

mineral wool panels. This combination is even more important when

    using perforated metal panels.

In the modified form, the ceiling can be used to:

    –  enhance the airborne sound insulation Rw [dB] of solid and

    wooden beam soffits

    –  improve sound insulation Dn,c,w [dB] between two adjacent rooms

    with a common plenum

    –  reduce noises from the plenum

As installation conditions vary from site to site, each project should

be assessed on its own merits. Where the acoustic performance of a

room is important, it is recommended that a qualified acoustician be

    consulted.

More guidance can be found in the relevant national standards:–  DIN 4109 “Sound Insulation in Buildings – November 1989

Standards for the load-bearing building component:

    Soffit + suspended Ceiling

Depending on their fire resistance duration, building

components are divided into the following classes:

    highly fire resistant REI 180 F 180 180

The fire resistance of structures in combination with suspended cei-

lings must be proven by fire tests according to European standards.

Tests covering many typical constructions have been successfully

carried out with OWA ceiling systems.

Fire resistance from above and below:

    Independent fire protection unit

The supply lines in the ceiling void must be protected – the escape

routes beneath. We developed independent fire protection units forthis. With it, the following fire resistance class values are achieved:

EI 30, F 30 to F 90. This means that escape routes beneath the fire

are protected for up to 90 minutes. The supply lines will be protec-

ted for just as long if the fire originates in the room. The units are

    delivered ready to install.

    Fire resistance with OWAtecta®

When used in conjunction with OWAcoustic® panels, fire resistance

can be achieved using a number of OWAtecta® ceiling systems.

Independent fire resistant OWAtecta® ceiling systems are also availa-

ble. The performances shown in our test reports are only valid when

OWAtecta® systems, panels and components are used and installed

in accordance with the relevant test report.

    Flatness

The manufacturing tolerances for thin gauge materials are shown in

    table 4 of EN 13964.

    “Squareness“

The suspension system (main and cross sections) must be installed

absolutely square. The permissible deviation depends on the dimen-sions of the ceiling membranes used and their attachment. A practical

method to check the squareness of the modules is regular checking

of the diagonals during installation and/or the correct fitting of the

ceiling panels. The permissible deviation depends on the panel type,

but even the slightest deviations from squareness may in practice

lead to visible deformation of the panels.

     Alignment of panels

Suspension systems, panels and any service elements included in the

ceiling plane must be installed accurately and in accordance with the

module specified. Care should be taken to ensure that the alignments

of profiles are maintained, especially at joints and intersections.

    Cutting perimeter panels to size

Normally, the ceiling layout will be based on the centre line of the

room bisecting, or running along the junction of a panel. Unless

otherwise agreed, whichever provides the largest perimeter panel is

normally used. Ideally, the perimeter panel should be at least half the

size of the panel. When cut, installed and pushed over against the tee

parallel with wall, at least 10 mm of the panel should be resting on the

    perimeter trim.

    2

    1

    Planning before installation

Our metal ceilings are suitable for the application areas given in DIN

EN 13964. An inspection of the building site to check local condi-

tions, site measurement of the rooms and production of an installa-

tion plan are important preliminary work steps. The ceiling layout,

arrangement of lighting and similar matters must be determined with

    the architect.

    Structural physics basics

All planning relevant aspects, such as determining ventilation cross-

sections, air exchange rates, arrangement of vapour barriers, humi-

dity, feasibility of a soffit in the case of a ventilated ceiling with regard

to the formation of any condensation in the building etc, must be

determined by an expert planner (building physicist) and tested, if

    necessary.

Requirements regarding building physics, fire protection, acoustics or

other matters, which could arise among other things from the relevant

standards, have not been considered in this installation brochure.

    Perimeter panels

The size of perimeter tiles will be dependant on the ceiling layout and

may be dictated by the position of services, walls, partitions etc. as

    well as other aesthetic considerations.

Generally, perimeter tiles should be as close to a full module size as

possible, and preferably larger than half a tile. In the example shown

below, we take a room that is 3.0 meters wide and install 625 x 625

mm tiles. The recommended layout uses three full tiles and two cut

    perimeter tiles of 562,5 mm.

This is preferable to the other example, which uses four full tiles and

two cut perimeter tiles of 250 mm. The number of tiles is the same,

but the ceiling would require an additional run of suspension profiles

    and be less aesthetically balanced.

    Example:

uneconomical tile distribution economical tile distribution

Effect of light or lighting on the suspended ceilingsFor architectural and optical reasons, light striking the suspended

ceiling at a shallow angle should be avoided. This refers both to light

fittings and to glazed facades that extend up to the lower edge of the

    ceiling.

Unfavourable incident light can emphasise and exaggerate any minor

difference in levels or pattern even when this lies within the tolerance

range. The installer can contribute significantly to the appearance of

the ceiling by observing all of the manufacturer‘s recommendations.

     Tolerances

Mass produced ceilings are produced within tolerances that are

deemed to be acceptable. These tolerances are shown in EN 13964

    – The European standard for suspended ceilings. (See below forexcerpt).

    Masking work

If the visible side of the substructure is to be protected against

external influences by masking or covering (e.g. painting), then make

sure that the surface of the structural element is not affected. The

compatibility of the adhesive tape that is used must be checked by

the worker through prior testing. To maintain the value of the visible

surface, it is generally wise to forego direct masking.

    Load-bearing capacity – additional load

OWAconstruct® systems are designed to support the tiles and sus-

pensions system. Additional loads, such as recessed and surface-

mounted lighting, air outlets, insulation overlays, curtain rails, partition

walls etc. must be taken into account separately in each individual

case. Additional measures may be required to support the additional

loads as well as provide increased stability where necessary).

Hangers should not be used to support loads such as electrical

    cables etc.

According to EN 13964, the substructure is to be classified accor-

ding to the maximum deflection as shown in Table 6.

    Class Maximum deflection in mm

    1 L/500 ≤ 4 mm

    2 L/300

    3 No limit

L is the span between the suspension components or suspension points

Note: The OWAconstruct® substructure may only be loaded in

accordance with the approved tables. If the ceiling is being used toprovide any form of fire resistance additional or independent hangers

    should be provided.

    Building, expansion and movement joints

Normally, building expansion and movement joints should be duplica-

ted in the ceiling membrane or suspended ceiling.

Example: Expansion joint and movement joint for the OWAconstruct system S 3without fire protection.

    Pressure and wind loads

Closed rooms and buildings with open facades are just two examples

where wind loading and/or air pressure within a room can create

additional loads on ceilings. Where such problems can be identified,

additional measures must be taken to protect the stability and securi-

ty of the ceiling and components within the ceiling plane.

     Construction of suspended ceilings and

    ceiling membranes

Individual system guides for each system show construction details,

dimensions and components for all OWAconstruct® suspension

systems. Detailed information on OWAconstruct® components and

accessories can be found in the OWAlifetime collection price list.

Before planning or installing an OWAcoustic® ceiling, the user should

satisfy themselves that the leaflet reflects the most up to date infor-

mation on the system and any standards that may relate to its use.

OWAconstruct® profiles fall into deflection Class 1 according to

    EN 13964 (Table 1) (maximum deflection = L/500 ≤ 4 mm).

To achieve this classification the profiles should not be notched, drilled or altered in any other way that may affect its structural cha-

    racteristics.

a firm foundation, the relevant ETA (European technical approval)

of the particular connection device must be complied with as a rule

    according to DIN EN 13964.

The instructions of the dowel manufacturer or fastener must be

observed. The respective applicable approvals or the building inspec-

torate test reports for the fastening elements (possibly pull-out tests)

    must be taken into consideration.

    Delivery

Our „general terms of sale, delivery and payment“ apply.

      Transport and storage

OWAtecta® products must always be stored in a way that ensures

they are not exposed to moisture, dust or mechanical influences.

Additionally, the following points must observed:

    • In the event of delivery on pallets, the panels must be stored on

    the pallets until their installation.

    • Cartons must always be stored with the designated side upwards.

    • No foreign material may be stored on the pallets or the cartons. They may not be stepped on or used as a seat or ladder.

    • When storing metal panels, care must be taken to ensure that the

panels are not damaged by the supporting surface.

    • The particular installation company is responsible for the storage.

    • Metal panel packages may not be stacked higher than 2 m.

    • Transport routes within the building site must be reduced to a

    minimum.

    • When possible, centralized storage places should be designated

    on each floor.

    • In the event of maintenance work, care must be taken to ensure

demounted ceiling panels are placed on one of their long sides

and carefully leant against a wall, with the finished surface facing

the wall. Panels are never to be stored on the decorative surface.

    2

Corrosion protection of profiles, hangers andmembrane materials

The humidity level within a room not only affects the membrane

material but may also have an effect on the suspension system and

associated components. These are generally manufactured from coldrolled steel and should have the correct level of corrosion resistance

to match the proposed installation environment.

    Excerpt from EN 13964:

The environmental conditions are defined in Table 7.

Table 7 – Classes of exposure

    Class Condition

A  Building components generally exposed to varying

relative humidity up to 70 % and varying temperature

up to 25 °C but without corrosive pollutants.

B  Building components frequently exposed to varying

relative humidity up to 90 % and varying temperatureup to 30 °C but without corrosive pollutants.

C  Building components exposed to an atmosphere with

a level of humidity higher than 90 % and accompanied

    by a risk of condensation.

D More severe than the above.

In EN 13964, Table 8 gives the minimum requirements for corrosion

protection according to the classes of Table 7.

Classes of corrosion protection of metal substructure com-

ponents and membrane components are defined in table 8

    of EN 13964.

Standard OWAtecta® metal ceiling panels are made of sheet steel

and have a ZE 25/25 electro-galvanised or ZE60/ZE60 hot dip galva-

nized surface. This corresponds to either corrosion protection class A

    or B of Table 8.

    OWAtecta® subconstruction components have a 7 – 10 µm zinc coa-

ting on all sides and therefore meet the requirements of both class A

and class B of the table 8.

It is important to ensure that the corrosion resistant protection is not

damaged before or during installation or later when in general use.

Where components are cut or damaged, they must be treated to

ensure the required level of resistance is not compromised.

     Contact corrosion

Corrosion due to the interaction of different materials must be

prevented by introducing the correct protective measures (as shown

in EN ISO 129443-3 point 5.10). These should be identified prior to

installation to prevent failure at a later date.

For use in cleanrooms, for over/underpressure ceilings

or for necessary chemical resistance, please see OWA-

    brochure no. 9398.

    Safety

Thin walled materials must be handled with care to avoid personal

    injury and product damage.

The installer must ensure that all associated risks are minimised and a

full risk assessment is carried out.

    Cleaning and care

The standard finish for OWAtecta® ceiling panels is an electrostatic

polyester powder coating. Other types of finishes are available upon

    request.

Normally, our products do not need cleaning unless the room envi-

ronment, climate control, ventilation or use makes the ceilings visibly

dirty. Where this happens, the following actions may be considered.

    • For the cleaning of visible surfaces, we recommend the use ofmild, lukewarm, soapy water (standard household washing-up

liquid) or diluted alcohol based window cleaning agent using a

clean soft-fibre cloth. Finally, theceiling can be wiped over with

a chamois leather. Any oily or greasy residues can be removed

with white spirit, however, this has to be carefully applied to avoid

any detrimental effect on the sheen. In all cases, we recommend

that a small trial area be tested before cleaning the whole ceiling.

    Scouring agents are not permissible.

    • Painting the ceiling is another possibility, but should be carried out

by professional painters. Again, we would recommend a trial area

as de-greasing or sanding may be required. Care should also be

taken to ensure the reaction to fire classification is not affected.Painting is not recommended for perforated panels, as the

    acoustic performance may be impaired.

Attention, only when using the substructure S 31/32.

The distance between the topside of the U profile or T profile and the

underside of the metal panel cannot be adjusted. This means that the

perimeter trims have to be fixed precisely.

     Installation and removal of panels

The panels for the clip-in systems are manufactured with pips on two

parallel edges to provide a friction connection with the clip-in profiles.

The panels are pushed into the clip-in profiles until an audible click is

    heard.

The removal or swinging down of the panels is only possible using

the special removal tool no. 99005. The tool is pushed into the

unclamped panel joint – directly next to the clip-in profile. The spring

hinge of the tool must be on the side of the panel to be removed.

After the spring has clicked into place in the panel edge, the panel

can be carefully withdrawn from the clip-in profile. The same proce-

dure is to be applied to the other panel edges.

     Installation and removal of panels

The panels for the clip-in systems are manufactured with pips on two

parallel edges to provide a friction connection with the clip-in profiles.

The panels are pushed into the clip-in profiles until an audible click is

    heard.

The removal or swinging down of the panels is only possible with the

special removal tool no. 99005. The tool is pushed into the unclam-

ped panel joint – directly next to the clip-in profile. The spring hinge

of the tool must be on the side of the panel to be removed. After the

spring has clicked into place in the panel edge, the panel can be

carefully withdrawn from the clip-in profile. The same procedure is to

be applied to the other panel edges.

     Swinging down of panels

Individual panels can be selected to swing down in system S 31. For

this, a fold-down spring element no. 86E must be snapped on to the

clip-in section no. 87E in the area of the tile joint that is to serve as

“hinge“. Both adjacent panels can then be swung down in opposition

to each other. If a swing down spring hinge is likewise arranged on

the panel joint after the next one, an area the size of two panels canbe opened in the ceiling by swinging down.

The panels are provided with so-called stopping tabs at the clamped

edges to guarantee a neat panel joint.

For access/hingeable tiles, the stopping tabs must be bent over in the

area of the fold-down spring elements.

In the case of rectangular panels, it is the other way round,

i.e. if they are not swung down, the fields stamped into the ends have

    to be pressed inwards (stop).

System S 32 differs from S 31 only by every second panel joint being

equipped with a swing down spring hinge. As a result, all panels can

be swung down. By pushing the folded back panels onto the clam-

ping rail, the opening space of the ceiling between the clamping rails

    can be made even larger.

Wind safety (on the „inside“ of a building)

Wind loads can also occur on the inside of a building (entrance area

etc.). The planner should formulate detailed requirements for this.

Possible structural solutions can be found in the following.

The tiles can be secured against falling down - e.g. in the event of

high wind pressure - with the help of security clip no. 68E.

The clip is suspended from the perforation in the panel and clipped

on to the clamping rail. In this way the next panel is also secured. Two

security clips per panel are necessary. If the security clip is used, the

panel cannot be demounted or swung down.

The fold-down spring element can be secured with the help ofsecurity clip no. 86E01. The swing-down capacity of the panel is

    preserved.

    Wall perimeters

The distance between the top of the U profile edge and the undersi-de of the metal panel is 96 mm and cannot be adjusted. This means

that the wall angles must be fixed accurately.

The following wall angle variations are available:

    C wall angle no. 57

(steel, visible side white) in combination with wall spring clip no. 5210

F shadow wall angle no. 5620F

    (aluminium, visible side powder-coated white)

    Clean room ceiling

In the case of use of non-perforated metal tiles, system S 31

meets the conditions for clean room ceilings (cf. OWA-brochure

no. 895 – ceilings for clean rooms).

For this, for uneven walls, the joint between the wall angle and wall

must be sprayed out with acrylic or an equivalent elastic material.

It is important that the edge tiles are pressed against the wall angle

with the respective wall spring clip. In some circumstances, two or

more wall springs are to be used per tile.

Please consult us if you mount ceilings in clean rooms.

directly or swung down. Consequently, in the case of smaller or

narrow areas at least three panels per installation row are required

so that initially the penultimate panel and then the wall panel can be

    demounted.

    angles and information on installation.

If the location point of the lighting to be installed is not known, con-

nector clip no. 12E can be used as an alternative to hanger bracket

no. 11E – provided the void height permits this.

The distance between the top edge of U profile no. 70E and the

underside of the metal panels is then 146 mm instead of 96 mm.

As a result, most lighting can be installed irrespective of the location

    of the U profiles.

    Cross tees

Cross tee no. 46 or no. 47

In conjunction with the main tee, the cross tees are used to create

the required module. They are equiped at both ends with off-set hook

connectors that are inserted into the main tee slots.

    Care must be taken to

    – insert the connectors in the correct side of the slot (see diagram

above).– ensure the cross tee expansion nose is not bent.

    – ensure the visible surfaces of the profiles are flat and level.

Cross tees no. 46 or no. 47 are off-set to the left. cross tees no. 47

and no. 47/15 are slotted in the middle for the insertion of additional

    cross tees.

Perimeter cross tees are supported by the wall angle and

should be cut short of the wall by 5 mm or 1/3 of the width

of the wall angle, whichever is less.

Additional hangers must be used to compensate for any additional

loads placed on the cross tees.

Main tee no. 45 is equipped at both ends with integrated connector

connections that produce high tensile strength connections.

A hanger should always be positioned close to the joint and

     joints should be staggered.

    Expansion joint

Every main tee is equipped with a standard expansion joint at one end,

which serves to accommodate linear expansion in the event of fire.

The main tees must be so arranged that no expansion joints are adjacent

to each other. No load transfers (hangers, light attachments …) are to

be fitted to the expansion joint.

When setting up the first main tee row, it must be ensured that:

    – the distance to the wall corresponds to the length (width) of theperimeter panel.

    – the distance of the slot for the insertion of the cross tee to the wall

corresponds to the width (length) of the perimeter panel.

The main tees can be installed almost without waste, i. e. most off-cuts

can be used at the beginning of the next row of main tees, automatically

    creating staggered joints (see previous).

The main tees are supported by wall angle and should be cut

short of the wall by 5 mm or 1/4 of the width of the wall angle,

    whichever is less.

     Integrated lighting

OWA supplies compatible integrated lighting for this system (OWA-

    Lex, OWA-Terra, OWA-Opta) in the dimensions 600 x 600 mm and

625 x 625 mm. This lighting can be installed in place of a panel in the

    supporting structure.

The lighting must be independently suspended or additional hangers

must be installed to compensate for the additional loading where

    appropriate.

Downlights must in general be suspended independently. The

required panel cut-outs can be included during manufacturing pro-

vided they are ordered together with the panels.

Electrical cables and other additional loads are not to be laid onto the

    ceiling or suspension system.

Coordination with the electrical planner or installer is

important to enable the installation of additional or independentsuspension. Experience shows that the installation of hangers retro-

spectively is more difficult, more expensive and they are therefore

more likely to be omitted leaving a potentially serious, concealed

    defect.

    Wall perimeters

Depending on the edge detail of the panels, various wall angles are

    available:

     Installation and removal of panels

The panels for the clip-in systems are manufactured with pips on two

parallel edges to provide a friction connection with the clip-in profiles.

The panels are pushed into the clip-in profiles until an audible click is

    heard.

The removal or swinging down of the panels is only possible with a

special tool, the removal tool no.

     Swinging down of panels

Individual panels or all of them can be selected to swing down in

system S 36. For this, wire clip no. 69E must be inserted in the drill

hole of the long side of the tile that is to serve as hinge, and snapped

onto the clamping rail no. 87B (see illustration).

Up to three swing down panels can be pushed next to each other on

the clip-in profile to enlarge the opening area. A ceiling area twiceas big can be opened due to the swing down action in opposite

    directions.

    Please note:

    access/hingeable tiles cannot be demounted.

     Installation and removal of panels

The panels for the clip-in systems are provided with sliding couplings

at the ends of one long side, which rest on the G-section when they

are extended. A spring is attached at the end of each of the opposite

long edges, which protrudes into the front side through a recess and

also rests on the G profile.

    Installation procedure

    •  Check whether there is joint tape on three panel sides - add this if

    necessary

    •  Retract the sliding couplings

    •  Push the panel diagonally (sliding coupling side above) between

    the G-sections

    •  Extend sliding couplings (resting on G-sections) until they click

into place in the perforations in the panel (panel is in swung down

    condition)

    •  Swing panel up until the springs click into place (press springs if

    necessary inwards to fit)

    Hinge down / remove panels

To press the spring hinges into the panel, a special tool is required,

    e. g. the Clip Tool no. 99005 or putty knife (see above).

    •  Push clip tool (putty knife) between panel and G profile

    •  Press spring in by lateral pushing of the clip tool (putty knife)

    •  Swing panel downwards

    •  To demount retract the sliding couplings and remove panel

As in the Success version, swung down panels can be pushed

    together.

     S 36 Swing (G profile)

Panels can be swung down along the long side or

If using bracket no. 12E02 to support the Z profile the distance (a)

must be ≥ 80 mm. If less than 80 mm version 2 or 3 should be used

    Version 2

To install the panels a minimum distance of 10-15 mm is required

between the wall and the panel. When this distance is less than

12 mm wall anchor no. 75E or bracket no. 99008 should be used.

    Version 3

L profile No. 5110 E is fixed to the wall at the appropriate level and

the Z profile bolted below using M6 nuts and bolts at 50 cm centres.

Both profiles are supplied with predrilled holes at 50 cm centres.

The L profile is 45 mm wide and allows panels to be removed but not

    hinged down.

     Installation and removal of panels

To install or remove the panels there must be a minimum distance

between the panel and the wall of at least 10 mm one end and

15 mm the other. To allow the panels to hinge down there must be

a minimum distance of 40 mm between the wall and panels.

    S 36 – lay-on

Here, the rectangular panels (also warehouse rectangular panels)

are placed on the F edge trim, cut on one side if need be, and

secured with a wall spring clip. Lifting heights are dependent on the

respective wall angle, e.g. Level F profile no. 56/20F – lifting height

    approx. 25 mm.

     Installation and removal of panels

The panel is pushed diagonally (with the longer angled edge up-

wards) between the Z profiles. The other edge is suspended from the

Z profile and the angled edge placed on the adjacent Z profile. The

Z profiles must be adjusted according to the panel width PLUS the

    sealing tape.

    * If height at front side of the tile is 30 mm the above shown distances are valid.

Panels can be demounted by reversing the installation process.

Where increased upwards pressures are anticipated (such as wind

pressure or for security reasons) it is possible to secure the panels

against lift using anti-lift clamp no. 67E. These are mechanically fixed

on site to the Z profile using an M6 nut and bolt. One clamp is requi-

red per panel (on every Z profile row).

     Wall perimeters

The distance H, between the top of the U carrier edge and the

underside of the metal panel, cannot be adjusted. This means that the

perimeter trims must be fixed accurately.

The following wall angle versions are recommended:

    C wall angle no. 57

    (steel, visible side white)

in combination with wall spring clip no. 5210

F shadow wall angle no. 5620F

    (aluminium, visible side powder-coated white)

in combination with wall spring clip no. 5220

    F wall angle no. 50F

    (aluminium, visible side white)

in combination with wall spring clip no. 5220

See OWAtecta® brochure no. 9300 (price list) for additional wall

    angles and information on installation.

     Installation of lighting

Please note: the lights must be arranged between the car-

    rier sections No. 70E.

( The installation height of the lighting is normally greater than the

distance between panel and carrier section.)

Electrical cables are not to be laid onto the ceiling or suspension

    system.

Coordination with the electrical planner or installer is im-

portant to enable the installation of additional or independent sus-

pension. Experience shows that the installation of hangers retrospec-

tively is more difficult, more expensive and they are therefore more

likely to be omitted leaving a potentially serious, concealed defect.

Suspension and connectionof the linear C-bandraster

Linear C bandrasters are installed parallel at the specified centres andsuspended from the U profiles using hanger no. 7910 E and safety

clip no. 66E. Bandrasters are joined together using connector no.

8210E and fixed to perimeter walls using wall anchor no. 8110E (wall

anchors should not be screw fixed to bandraster). Bandraster joints

    must be staggered between rows.

    Please note:

The minimum clearance between linear C-bandraster and

the wall is to be 10 mm. The maximum clearance depends

on the type and width of the wall angle used.

The U profile and hanger centres given in the table below must

not be exceeded. They refer only to the load caused by the ceiling

suspension system and panels. Additional loads must be suspended

    separately.

    •  Insert the OWAcoustic® panels into

    the OWAtecta® panels.

    •  Insert the OWAtecta® panel into the

upper horizontal trim lifting until it

clears the lower trim (take care not

    to dislodge tape).

    •  Lower the OWAtecta® panel gentlyinto the lower trim. The centre

panel is the last to be installed.

    Note:

The 15-mm holes in the trims have an acoustic function and must not

    be blocked or concealed.

     Special Sizes

Where special length absorber units are used, the vertical trims

should be cut 18 mm longer than the panels.

For an installation less than 1200 mm from the floor, we

recommend installing a 30 mm thick wooden strip horizon-tally in the area between the absorber and wall.
