Definition of Drug and Addiction

According to the Drug Abuse Board, Drug is defined to be any chemical substance that brings out physical, emotional or behavioral changes in a person taking it.

While Addiction, this is a condition that results when a person ingest a substance (alcohol, cocaine nicotine) or engages in an activity that can be pleasurable.

It is also called a brain disease, why??, because the abuse of drugs leads to changes in the structure and function of the brain.

MARIJUANA

The number one and favorite used drug in the country.

It is a drug found in the flowering top and leaves of an Indian hemp plant, cannabis saliva. The leaves and flowers are dried and crushed into small pieces and rolled as cigarettes. The popularity of this drug maybe due to its ready availability as its cultivation is wide spread.

Marijuana goes by such names as reefers, joints, stick and Mary Jane.

This drug is found in Kalinga, Apayao etc.

According to smokers of Marijuana, smoking marijuana is next to pleasure or enjoyment.

Shabu is defined as a synthetic drug which has stimulating effect on the nervous system and can damage the brain. It comes in powder form, filled into pipe, and sniffed.

Also, In between freshmen and sophomores, they use marijuana once a week while once or twice was among the juniors.
