    Youth Exchange Project My club, My space

    On 04 -14 April, six DRONI members par cipated in a very ac ve, interes ng and resul ul YouthExchange Project in Armenia. 60 young people from 10 di erent countries: Georgia, Lithuania,Moldova, Belarus, Ukraine, Armenia, Romania, Hungary, Poland and Turkey met in Yerevan todiscuss and exchange on how youth is living in di erent countries.

    The ten days interna onal youth exchange project My club, My space took place in Yerevan, inthe capital of Armenia. Project was organized by Armenian non-governmental organiza onFedera on of Youth Clubs of Armenia (FYCA) within Youth in Ac on (YiA) program. The aim of the project was to empower unemployed young people, to develop their skills, tolearn how to manage, work and be leaders with youth in local youth clubs and to realize youthprojects within the framework of YiA programs.

    During the project par cipants presented their own countries, heritage, tradi ons, cultures,habits, languages and tried to teach each other. They also had amazing opportuni es to visitmany youth clubs in Armenia in di erent places, to talk and discuss about what is the mainproblem and challenges for youth all over the world, to compare di erences and discuss realitybased on their knowledge, experience and best prac ces within local youth lifestyles.

    The main ac vi es of the mee ng were to develop skills and knowledge in order to be sociallymore ac ve. Par cipants had freedom in ac vi es which means they were not always guidedbut remained more exible . They presented topics on as they wished according to their ownreality. For instance, they made fashion show to present their NGO and in this way theydescribed the spirit of organiza on.

    Human Library fnal event in Zugdidi

    HUMAN LIBRARY IN ZUGDIDI

    The Human Library was organized by theyouth NGO Droni in collabora on withthe US State Department AmericanCorner. This cross cultural experiencewith Human Books took place on April 26at American Corner in Zugdidi.

    Two months of hard planning byEuropean, Georgian and Americanvolunteers accumulated with that even ul day. A total of 12 human booksand 20 local volunteers, including somefrom Georgian breakaway region ofAbkhazia par cipated. There was a widerange of cultural and na onal diversity:Czech and Estonia Republics, Germany,France, Georgia and the United States.

    Human books are basically those whohave a unique and personal story orperspec ve to share; in this case - from across cultural and genera onalstandpoint dependency.

    They come from all walks of life andages, including IDPs and physicallydisabled.

    The communica on was two way, andbooks also asked ques ons and sharedtheir understanding of local concerns .Some examples included a youngbusiness man, Pagan, HIV ac vist, socialworker and various other culturalbackgrounds and beliefs. The programpaired these volunteers with a localGeorgian volunteer to aid in transla on ifneeded.

    A total of 69 registered readers sat downwith the par cipants and sharedpersonal experiences and outlooks. Alltogether more than 100 par cipantsa ended the event, including membersof the media and local TV sta on.

    The event aimed at allowing ci zens tocome and address common stereotypesand viewpoints. It allowed them to relatewith people that they would normallynot have an opportunity to meet in theireveryday life. The cross culturalexchange gave younger and olderGeorgian ci zens a chance to prac cetheir English skills, and experiencediverse and unfamiliar cultures.

    Par cipants were trained for thenecessary skills concerning right leadership, mee ng other partners,exchanging cultural experiences, and promo ng ci zenship and par cipa on.This training lasted a week and required a very ac ve a tude from thepar cipants as it was very intensive.

    Objec ves of the training were : to makethe par cipants understand the diversityof organiza onal leadership styles andmentali es; foster exchange of goodprac ces within (European) coopera on ,strengthen partnerships between Youthorganiza ons. In addi on to this, it aimedat o ering the par cipants advancedskills for (interna onal) projects; providethem with di erent methods forintercultural learning as well as informthem about the existent resourceshelping in planning, implemen ng andmonitoring an intercultural projectswhile fostering capacity building and innova on in the eld of interna onal

    Youth work and providing them withappropriate tools for managing theinterna onal projects.

    From April 6 to April 13 YouthAssocia on DRONI members SofoGogoberishvili, Eka Abalaki, GiorgiKuxalashvili, Bela Belkania and MariamBerishvili par cipated in the TrainingCourse Young Leaders for Posi veChange organized by New faces inMinsk, Belarus within a Youth in Ac onProgram.

    Par cipant countries were Georgia,Netherlands, Denmark, Macedonia and

    Belarus. The rst sessions includedicebreakers and the welcoming evening which made it really interes ng to nd allabout the cultures of other par cipantcountries.

    During one week 24 young people were brought together to speak and discusswhat is leadership, which skills arerequiredin order to be a leader, what isorganiza on theory and also have a greatprac ce of leadership skills. The mainaim of the project was to assist youngpeople in Europe in gaining knowledge of

    the basics of leadership, exploringleadership in both non -governmentaland governmental environments andobtaining skills of a leader.

    It started as an idea forintercultural exchange andcollabora on based oninformal learning. DRONI EVSvolunteers Ioanna and Alicedecided to ini ate a youthproject between Georgia andFrance aiming at establishingconnec ons between youth inthe elds of culture, learningand social reality of the twocountries on the West and Eastcorners of Europe.

    This was a ve weeks projectbetween the frenchcommunity centre, ChteauDes chelles in Ambrieu-en-Bugey, France and YouthAssocia on DRONI in Tbilisi ,Georgia aiming at linking socio-cultural reali es betweenGeorgia and France foralterna ve educa onpurposes. In the framework ofthis project, children createdvideos of self -representa onthat they were shared withtheir fellows on the other side,completed parts of a mapcollage focusing on the twocountries tradi ons andcultural life aiming at

    comple ng a journey from theone side of the map to theother with small stops ofknowledge in the between .

    A bridge between Georgia and France:The Tbilisi Sea School and Chteau Des chelles intercultural exchange project

    The Act For Youth Training Course took place from April 3 toApril 10 in Tsakhkadzor, Armenia and it was held by Regional

    Studies Center. Par cipant countries were Armenia, Georgia,Romania, Spain, Greece, Ukraine, Turkey and Belgium.

    Taking into account the high rates of unemployment among theyouth throughout Europe, the high rates of payments for theeduca on and healthcare, the low standards of living in someparts of Europe the viola ons of the social rights became veryapparent and the need of protec on very urgent.

    The aims of the project were to promote the advocacy campaignsand non -violent ac ons, to tackle the viola ons of social rights, toraise awareness on social rights, equip the par cipants withtheore cal knowledge and prac cal skills on the topic, mo vatethe par cipants to act as civic ac vists and agents of change in their local communi es, enhance the network and coopera on ofthe organiza ons throughout Europe.

    The par cipants had opportuni es to share their opinion aboutvery dilemma c issues; also they had simula on process inhuman rights eld. The discussions and dialogues were like aguarantee of high knowledge about social rights. The last day wasdedicated to visi ng at rst Sevan Lake and then a capital where

    the par cipants had tradi onal Armenian evening.

    Children were alsophotographed and as a follow -up exchanged their photoswith their fellows abroad inorder to make a collec ve

    collage of self -portraits bymixing up characteris cs whilst

    prac cing ar s c skills.

    The making of postcards forexchange of thoughts andmessages between children aswell as the rota ng cadaversac vity of drawings of guresby mul ple children at a memixing up characteris cs andfaces as well as origami andcomics ac vi es were also inthe framework of this project.

    All sessions aimed at makingthe link between the twocountries even stronger . OnMay 1 we all par cipated in theconcluding session of theproject on youth exchangebetween France and Georgiasharing a presenta on with thechildren as a result of their owne orts and successful results.You can nd the presenta onvideo here:

    Youth in Ac on Training Course Lead for a Reason

    An interna onal training course Lead for areason took place from 24th March to 1stApril in Ferrara, Italy. 23 par cipants from 12partner organiza ons were represen ngdi erent countries and regions in Europe and

    outside it. The aim of the project was to empoweryoung people with skills and knowledge todevelop and lead interna onal youth andvolunteer ac vi es, increase intercultural competencies, share best prac ces andcontribute to improving quan ty and qualityof ac vi es under the Youth in Ac onprogram. Addi onally to leadership skills, theprogram included 3 learning streams onhuman rights, ac ve ci zenship andpar cipa on and sustainable lifestyles.

    During the training the organizers used non -

    formal learning methods. Par cipantsdiscussed and planed follow up ac vi es,short - and long-term interna onal volunteer projects on the topics of human rights, social

    inclusion and ac ve par cipa on andEuropean ci zenship. The working languagewas English. The project was organized byNGO Icarus and its partners which wererealized at na onal and interna onal level

    during 2014 and beyond, including thosewithin the framework of the new Erasmus +program.

    At the project Georgia was represented byAna Matcharashvili and Eka Abalaki,volunteers at Youth Associa on DRONI. Oneof the most exci ng things about training wasa day trip to Venice. The par cipants traveled2 hours by the train from Ferrara to Veniceand a er that they spent whole day there.They saw the world famous sights andenjoyed a short trip on gondola as well. Theproject ended on 31 st March with goodbye

    party (the same day we celebrated birthdaysof 2 par cipants) and the next day wasdeparture date.

    From April17 to April21 was held a feasibility visitBuilding Bridges for Future Coopera on in thecapital of Belarus, Minsk. The project wasorganized by NGO Educa on Centre FIALTA incoopera on with the NGO A-net Youthforum (Anaset, Sweden).

    The par cipa ng countries were Sweden, Finland,Ireland, Italy, Belarus, Georgia and Armenia. Eachcountry has sent two par cipants and the totalnumber was 13. The par cipants from DRONI were Liako Gabisonia and Mariam Bibileishvili. Thedura on of the project was ve days.

    The theme of the project was European awareness.The projects aim was to bring togetherorganiza ons which had experience in

    interna onal youth work and exchangeexperiences and good prac ces in the eld ofinterna onal youth work and strengthen thecoopera on between European Union Member

    States organiza ons and Eastern European partnercountries.

    Moreover, the main aim was to discuss and planfor future possible project within the newEuropean youth programme among thepar cipa ng organiza ons. The project wase cient.

    It reached its aims and objec ves. Par cipantscould write their own project in coopera on withother partner countries. Now they are all going toimplement the projects, cooperate with each otherand apply for the next deadline to get funded. Sothey went back to their countries with posi veemo ons and hopes that they will be able toimplement their own projects and get moreexperienced.
