OF OLD SAYBROOK, CONNECTICUT. THE SYSTEM SHALL BE INSTALLED BY A CONTRACTOR TRAINED BY THE MANUFACTURER TO INSTALL THE SYSTEM IN FULL COMPLIANCE WITH THE MA DEP CERTIFICATION FOR GENERAL USE AS REVISED THROUGH 2/19/15 AND MODIFIED 6/12/15, AND MASSDEP "STANDARD CONDITIONS FOR ALTERNATIVE SOIL ABSORPTION SYSTEMS" AS REVISED THROUGH 9/26/14. 3. THE SOIL ABSORPTION SYSTEM SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE AND LOCAL THE SOIL ABSORPTION SYSTEM SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE AND LOCAL REGULATIONS, MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS (WHERE APPLICABLE) AND ACCEPTED BEST PRACTICE. SYSTEM COMPONENTS SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED IN FROZEN GROUND OR LEFT UNCOVERED FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME. 4. THE SEPTIC TANK SHALL BE FITTED WITH AN EFFLUENT FILTER SIMILAR OR EQUAL TO THE THE SEPTIC TANK SHALL BE FITTED WITH AN EFFLUENT FILTER SIMILAR OR EQUAL TO THE ZABEL MODEL A1801-4X22. 5. ALL SYSTEM COMPONENTS SHALL BE MARKED WITH MAGNETIC MARKING TAPE OR A ALL SYSTEM COMPONENTS SHALL BE MARKED WITH MAGNETIC MARKING TAPE OR A COMPARABLE MEANS IN ORDER TO FACILITATE LOCATION OF THE SYSTEM ONCE BACKFILLED. 6. THE SOIL ABSORPTION SYSTEM SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM OF ONE (1) INSPECTION PORT AS THE SOIL ABSORPTION SYSTEM SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM OF ONE (1) INSPECTION PORT AS DETAILED ON SHEET 2 OF 2. 7. WHERE FILL IS REQUIRED TO REPLACE IMPERMEABLE OR OTHERWISE UNSUITABLE SOILS, THE WHERE FILL IS REQUIRED TO REPLACE IMPERMEABLE OR OTHERWISE UNSUITABLE SOILS, THE EXCAVATION OF THE UNSUITABLE MATERIAL SHALL EXTEND A MINIMUM OF 5 FEET LATERALLY IN ALL DIRECTIONS BEYOND THE OUTER PERIMETER OF THE SOIL ABSORPTION SYSTEM. 8. FILL MATERIAL FOR SYSTEMS CONSTRUCTED IN FILL SHALL CONSIST OF SELECT ONSITE OR FILL MATERIAL FOR SYSTEMS CONSTRUCTED IN FILL SHALL CONSIST OF SELECT ONSITE OR IMPORTED SOILS THAT MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF 310 CMR 15.255(3). 9. BACKFILL OVER THE SEPTIC TANK AND DISTRIBUTION BOX SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF NINE BACKFILL OVER THE SEPTIC TANK AND DISTRIBUTION BOX SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF NINE INCHES. BACKFILL OVER THE SOIL ABSORPTION SYSTEM SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 9" EXCLUDING TOPSOIL, AND FREE OF STONES GREATER THAN SIX INCHES IN ANY DIMENSION. 10. ALL SEWERS AND DISTRIBUTION LINES SHALL BE LAID ON A COMPACTED FIRM BASE. ALL SEWERS AND DISTRIBUTION LINES SHALL BE LAID ON A COMPACTED FIRM BASE. 11. ALL GRAVITY SEWERS SHALL BE SCH 40 PVC PIPE OR APPROVED EQUAL. PRESSURE PIPING ALL GRAVITY SEWERS SHALL BE SCH 40 PVC PIPE OR APPROVED EQUAL. PRESSURE PIPING SHALL BE SDR 21 PVC PIPE. 12. ALL PIPE JOINTS AND CONNECTIONS TO SYSTEM COMPONENTS SHALL BE MECHANICALLY ALL PIPE JOINTS AND CONNECTIONS TO SYSTEM COMPONENTS SHALL BE MECHANICALLY SOUND, WATER TIGHT AND PROTECTED AGAINST INTRUSION BY ROOTS. 13. BUILDING SEWERS WITHIN 10' OF THE OUTSIDE FACE OF BUILDING WALLS SHALL BE BUILDING SEWERS WITHIN 10' OF THE OUTSIDE FACE OF BUILDING WALLS SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STATE PLUMBING CODE 248 CMR 2.00. 14. SUBSURFACE COMPONENTS OF THE SDS SHALL NOT BE BACKFILLED OR OTHERWISE CONCEALED SUBSURFACE COMPONENTS OF THE SDS SHALL NOT BE BACKFILLED OR OTHERWISE CONCEALED FROM VIEW UNTIL A FINAL INSPECTION HAS BEEN CONDUCTED BY THE APPROVING AUTHORITY AND PERMISSION HAS BEEN GRANTED BY THE APPROVING AUTHORITY TO BACKFILL THE SYSTEM. THE DESIGNER OR HIS REPRESENTATIVE SHALL BE PROVIDED THE OPPORTUNITY TO INSPECT THE CONSTRUCTION AFTER THE INITIAL EXCAVATION, PRIOR TO, AND DURING BACKFILLING. IN ADDITION, A FINAL INSPECTION OF THE SYSTEM SHALL BE CONDUCTED BY THE APPROVING AUTHORITY, THE SYSTEM INSTALLER AND THE DESIGNER PRIOR TO THE ISSUANCE OF A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE PURSUANT TO 310 CMR 15.021(3). ANY COMPONENT OF THE SYSTEM WHICH HAS BEEN COVERED WITHOUT SUCH PERMISSION SHALL BE UNCOVERED FOR INSPECTION UPON THE REQUEST OF THE APPROVING AUTHORITY OR MA DEP. 15. THE EXISTING SEPTIC TANK SHALL BE PUMPED OF ITS CONTENTS AND REMOVED FOR OFFSITE THE EXISTING SEPTIC TANK SHALL BE PUMPED OF ITS CONTENTS AND REMOVED FOR OFFSITE DISPOSAL IN AN ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE MANNER OR OTHERWISE ABANDONED IN ACCORDANCE WITH 310 cmr 15.354. 16. THE LOCATION AND CONFIGURATION OF THE EXISTING SOIL ABSORPTION SYSTEM IS UNKNOWN. THE LOCATION AND CONFIGURATION OF THE EXISTING SOIL ABSORPTION SYSTEM IS UNKNOWN. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LOCATING THE SYSTEM, AND, IF DETERMINED TO BE A LEACH PIT, SHALL BE PUMPED OF ITS CONTENTS AND ABANDONED IN ACCORDANCE WITH 310 CMR 15.354, OR REMOVED FOR OFFSITE DISPOSAL. 17. FINISH GRADING SHALL BE PERFORMED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PLOT PLAN. ALL DISTURBED FINISH GRADING SHALL BE PERFORMED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PLOT PLAN. ALL DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE COVERED WITH A MINIMUM OF 4" OF LOAM, AND SEEDED WITH AN APPROPRIATE GRASS MIXTURE. 18. FINAL COVER OVER THE SOIL ABSORPTION SYSTEM SHALL BE GRADED TO REDUCE INFILTRATION FINAL COVER OVER THE SOIL ABSORPTION SYSTEM SHALL BE GRADED TO REDUCE INFILTRATION OF SURFACE WATER AND MINIMIZE EROSION. FINISH GRADE SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM SLOPE OF 2%.
