PREFACE

This report is made in response to a school assignment. This report is a short one of the official report.

You can find the official report on my website http://eduweb.hhs.nl/~15031985/slb.html. The official

report is written in Dutch.

This report is especially written for those interested in this particular type drilling machine.

This report could not have been written without help from other students. I would particularly like to thank

W.R. Hoogland his detailed comments.

SUMMARY

In this short report you can read the most important findings about the analysis of a Vendex drilling

machine type VD1550.

The following paragraphs contain the most important information of the analysis:

a list of requirements and wishes for the Vendex drilling machine

the conclusions from the main report

The main conclusion is that there are many different components in a drilling machine. These components

all have different characteristics by itself. These different characteristics should yield together in the final

product. This way you get the desired product.

1 . INTRODUCT ION

The purpose of this report is to analyze the process of creating a unique drilling machine. This is very

important because there are many different drilling machines.

Our product could be unique when it has the possibility to control the speed of the drill. In addition, it has

been found that other drilling machines are quite heavy. So if we create a light drill, compared with the

other drilling machines on the market, we can distinguish us even more.

The purpose of this product is to make a light electric device which can drill holes with various engine

speeds for daily use.

This analysis is created by making several assignments. First of all, the problem statement is defined.

Then the requirements are drawn up and at the end of this report there will be the conclusion.

Page 7

3 . CONCLUS ION

The purpose of this product was to make a light electric device which can drill holes with various engine

speeds for daily use. This can be done because of the analysis that is made.

First of all, the drilling machine must be light. To ensure this, thermosetting plastic is the best choice. This

kind of plastic won't be effected by the heat that is produced by the electric motor. In addition, there are

many transmissions in the drill machine by means of gears. The will be a lot of power on these gears and

also on the housing but despite that they should stay in the same place. That is why it is important that the

material is strong enough to withstand the forces. Thermosetting plastic is strong enough and is therefore

suitable as housing of the drilling machine.

For the energy supply, it is convenient to use a electric plug. The electric motor must get enough power to

keep working. That is why it is more convenient to use a electric plug instead of a battery. As a result, the

customer won't have the problem that the drilling machine ran out of power after 3 minutes of intensive

drilling.

Because the drilling machine has to be used in many places it is important that the length of the cord is

long enough. The length of the cord is 6 meters so you can use him in all places. The drilling machine with

electric plug is made according to power-class 2. This means that these devices are double isolated or

that these devices have a strong housing.

Besides the transformer, the chuck must have a defined speed and the chuck need to run in 2 different

directions. The easiest way to do this is to make a small wheel on the push button to enable and disable

the drilling machine which allows you to adjust the speed of the drill head.

To determine the direction of the chuck, it's the best way to make a lever above the push button. The

wheel for the rotation speed and the lever for the direction of the chuck will have to turn a switch on or

off. This switch will manage the electric motor.

Also, there has to be a fuse in the drill that will stop the drill if it makes contact with water. The drilling

machine also be switched off when it gets too hot.

Finally, we need to have a strong chuck which you can

secure. The use of metal is a smart choice because it can

easily be edited. The chuck will also be very strong so it

won't break that fast. For tighten the drill in the chuck,

you can use a special key.

SUMMARY

In this report you can read the analysis of a davit. We're going to us the requirements and wishes for our

own davit, which we have to build.

The following paragraphs contain the most important information about the davit:

a list of requirements and wishes for our davit

the conclusions from the main report of a davit

The main conclusion is that our davit must be strong enough to lift 150 kg. Besides that, there must be a

transfer to the other arm to ensure that the jet ski stays horizontal while lifting. This will be further

investigated in a next report.

1 . INTRODUCT ION

The purpose of this report is to get known with the designing of a new davit and which materials we are

going to use. There are lots of different davits in the world so we have to make sure we make a unique

one that isn't designed yet.

There is a huge gap between nowadays davits and davits that are assembled to the interior of the boat.

In that way, our davit can distinguish from other davits in the world. Besides that, it is important to make

sure that the davit easily get the jet ski out of the water or let it go in to the water. Easily will say that

the davit is easy to control and that the davit can lift the jet ski without any problems.

The purpose of this product is to make an electrical device that can easily lift a water vehicle in and out

of the water and that is assembled to the interior of the boat.

This analysis is created by making several assignments. First, the requirements and wishes for the davit

are drawn up. At the end, the conclusion of the original report are given.

3 . CONCLUS ION

The purpose of this product was to make an electrical device that can easily lift a water vehicle in and

out of the water and that is assembled to the interior of the boat. Because of this analysis it is possible to

answer the possibilities to do this..

First of all, we use steel for the 2 arms of the davit. This is a strong material that is easy to edit. besides

that, you can easily produce these steel arms and production costs for these arms are very low.

For our davit, we use mechanical drive. Because we use this, the use of a ready-to-go winch is the best.

To make a winch is tricky because there are many different parts which are all edited and put together.

Because we do not have so much time, it is easier to contract this work out to an external company.

But the winch has to comply to our requirements. First of all, there must be a fuse on the winch that stops

the jet ski from falling when you suddenly release the handle while turning. To do this, you can use a

ratchet system (see image below). Besides that, the use of a steel laced wire is the best option for the

davit. This type of cable is inexpensive and can handle the power during the lift of a jet ski very well. Of

course there are better solutions but this is the cheapest.

On top of the 2 arms and on the bar above the jet ski, there will be 4 pulleys in total. These pulleys must

be able to hold the weight of the jet ski and also be water-resistant. Most pulleys are suitable for this It's

cheaper to contract the production for pulleys out.

The rod where the jet ski will hang underneath will be from steel because this is a strong material and

easy to edit. On the 2 outsides of the rod, there will be 2 pulleys on the top and 2 hooks on the bottom

to which you can attach the jet ski. These 2 hooks must hold the weight of the jet ski.

To lift the jet ski, the easiest way to do this is to use 2 straps. These 2 straps get stuck in the 2 hooks on

the bottom of the rod. After you ensure that the straps are well under the jet ski, you can start lifting the

jet ski. The straps are made from nylon so the easiest way to get them is to buy them.
