damen designs its own extensive range of dredge pumps. the range includes low pressure, medium pressure and high pressure dredge pumps focusing on maximum efficiency and minimal wear. most shaft sealings are done by mechanical seals.

DOP dredgers are versatile, compactly built dredgers, which are based on the successful DOP submersible dredge pump. The modular design is obvious: all standardised elements such as the pontoons, the operating cabin, the gantry and the suction pipe can be containerised. The Damen Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) has been designed as a dedicated maintenance dredger. Its main purpose is to keep ports and navigation channels at the right depth. The TSHD Series comprises six medium sized vessels with capacities ranging from 500 m³ to 2,500 m³. Each standard vessel can be adapted to maximise its operational efficiency at a specific jobsite by using Damen’s large, standard options range.

A large number of dredging sensors are available. For instance, the trailing pipe position can be monitored by inclino meters and rotation sensors, which are fitted on the hinge points. other sensors can measure the height of the hopper cargo. All of this combined sensor data improves dredging accuracy and boost dredging efficiency.

A state-of-the-art monitoring and control system is available. A clear, on-screen presentation is given of the actual trailing pipe working angle. other pages show the load and draught, the dredge pump production and the vacuum and pressures of jetwater and dredge pumps, as well as the positions of the gantries and the swell compensator.

A trailing suction pipe system which includes a trailing pipe, gantries, winches and swell compensator is mounted on the gangway. An efficient damen dredge pump, mounted in the engine room near the suction inlet, ensures a high mixture concentration. A package delivery could also include dredge valves in different pipe line pressure stages.

tSHds can be fitted out with a self emptying system. the hopper cargo is fluidised by means of jetwater nozzles and jetwater monitors and it is pumped ashore or rainbowed depending on the job-site requirements. damen can advise on the system and its components for maximum efficiency.
