Diver SafetyWe would like to remind all members that diving is a skill thatshould be regularly practiced, so if you havent been diving for a

few months, before joining us on a club trip we recommend thatyou come along to a pool session to practice your basic skills, andif you can come and dive when we are at Capernwray or StoneyCove as we usually have plenty of active club members, who willenjoy buddying up with you for a days diving.

If you havent been diving for over six months it isrecommended that you book a Scuba Review, to run through theessential skills under the expert guidance of a PADI professional.

Another important aspect to diver safety is the correct deploymentand use of a DSMB, whilst diving in the sea. To help you masterthis important skill we are running a SMB Specialty course in May. Ifyou are new to Sea Diving in the UK, this course is an essentialone,as most dive boat skippers are now insisting that all divers areequipped with an SMB and that it is used by all buddy pairs duringtheir assent on all dives.

Whilst we on the topic of diver safety, remember it is important toget your regulators serviced annually, and as club member youreceive10% discount on all equipment servicing.

The club trips organised for this year are filling up fast, with someof them having only places on the reserve list available.

So if you are interested in joining us on one of these trips, pleasepay your 10 deposit before it is too late! Wherever possible to willtry to organise an extra boat to accommodate all interested divers,but we need to know as soon as possible the numbers involved sowe can make arrangements, unfortunately sometimes this is notpossible.

Dive Club membership fees for 2011 are now overdue, if your

membership fees are still outstanding could you please pay

them ASAP by popping into the dive shop or at the next club

meeting.

Advanced Open Water Diver CourseDates and locations: various depending upon your choice of dives.Build upon your PADI Open Water Diver Skills, this course consistsof five specialty dives; under the guidance of your PADI Instructoryou complete the Deep and Underwater Navigation AdventureDives. These dives boost your confidence to build on the skills youlearnt during your open water course.You then choose three additional dives from more than 15Adventure Dives to complete your course. Well done to both Ian Wilson and ClaireSouthwell for successfully achieving all therequirements in order to earn PADIs highestrecreational diving certification ofMasterScuba Diver.

Club Events and Trips CalendarIf you have any other ideas for club trips for next year, please letus know at the next club meeting, so we can organise and bookboats etc...

This is because we need to book early to ensure that we can haveaccess to the best boats at each destination.

If you want to secure a place for next years trips you must

bring 10 per trip to the meeting otherwise your name cannotbe put down to reserve a place.

Anyone who pays a deposit and revokes must pay for the trip infull if you do not find anyone to take your place as we have tobook and pay for our boats in advance.

Guided Sea DivesWe are now offering guided sea dives for anyone who has not beenon a boat before or been in the sea for the price of 25.00 per dayfor a PADI professional to take you diving.

On our trips we will put the names of the Divemasters andInstructors who will be willing to take you on a guided dive and youpay the 25.00 to the Divemaster / instructor direct to contributetowards their trip cost.

This will enable you to have peace of mind that you can conduct a

buoyancy check and be shown all the fabulous critters underwater.
