Dream Dinners Franchisees Host Meal-Packing Event to Help Fight Hunger With nearly 805 million individuals of the 7.3 billion people in the world suffering from chronic undernourishment, hunger continues to be a global issue. Dream Dinners franchise of Redlands aimed to fight this battle by hosting a meal-packing event aimed at providing meals to underprivileged individuals and families locally and globally.

Dream Dinners franchisees Stephanie and Ray Carnes sponsored the event in partnership with Friends and Family Connection who will ship the meals comprising of rice, dried vegetable mix and protein, with each packaged meal feeding up to six people.

“We are excited to be the first Dream Dinners franchise outside of the San Diego market to help end hunger in our community and abroad by hosting our own meal-packing event,” said the Dream Dinners franchisees.

The Dream Dinners franchisee’s ultimate goal of the event was to pack and donate 50,000 meals in just two hours with the help of volunteers and donations from around the area. Over 100 volunteers of various ages attended the event and worked together to package meals.

The Dream Dinners franchisee’s ultimate goal of the event was to pack and donate 50,000 meals in just two hours with the help of volunteers and donations from around the area. Over 100 volunteers of various ages attended the event and worked together to package meals.

“[I was] on the verge of tears most of the morning just to see this many people from the community coming together, and when I heard that we raised enough money to pack up to 50,000 meals for the homeless, that’s pretty powerful. It’s pretty humbling,” Stephanie Carnes said.

While most of the meals that were packaged at the event will be delivered to Nepal to benefit those left homeless and hungry from the recent earthquake, about one-quarter will be donated to YouthHope, a local organization aimed at helping the homeless youth of the Redlands area.
