Please help us spread the word, so everyone in the Housatonic River watershed knows that the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released their new permit for remediation of the Housatonic "Rest of River" downstream of Fred Garner Park in Pittsfield. This new permit builds upon the 2016 permit, so there can be no back- sliding from anything that was settled by the Environmental Appeals Board (EAB) in that 2016 permit. EPA's detailed proposed modifications to the 2016 permit: Draft Revised 2020 Permit Statement of Basis that outlines the changes and the rationale for the Draft Revised 2020 Permit Short Fact Sheet Summary of this action Overview of Housatonic River cleanup effort, and EPA's proposed permit modifications (Powerpoint Presentation) Please take some time to understand what has changed in this new permit and comment to the EPA. The comment period currently runs until August 28, 2020. EPA will provide a brief overview of the proposed permit changes, followed by an opportunity for the public to make comments for the record.
