Documentary – Draft: 4 - Location

Changing location

• We had previously had issues with our location as a park communicates things about nature and doesn’t relate to our topic.

• So we decided to research into a more effective one.

• In order to gain higher marks and appeal to our target audience we need a location that connects to our target audience and our topic.

• As our topic is on social media our location should compliment and communicate this.

• Therefore our location should ultimately be a very social place with many people preferably teenagers and young adults.

• We narrowed it down to popular urban areas that will communicate a social generation.

Chosen location

• We narrowed it down to ‘Hyde Park’ and ‘Camden Town’.

• They’re both well known areas where many of the younger generation go.

• Thus when our audience recognises it in our documentary they will be able to relate more and ultimately be more intrigued.

• As our topic is about social media, these two locations reflect socialising the most.

Chosen location: Camden TownCamden Town

• As Camden is popular for its urban setting and influx of youth and social places we decided this will be the locations for the remaining drafts.

Chosen Location Photos

• The number of passengers by is always high in Camden therefore reinforcing the idea of socialising.

• A good spot to film presenter parts.

RISK ASSESSMENT & HEALTH AND SAFTEY

TASKS: POSSIBLE RISK INVOLVED IN TASKS: ACTIONS TO PREVENT HARM TO HEALTH OR SAFETY:

Filming at library – ‘Sheppards Bush’. People may be trying to work or study and we might end up disrupting them.

Check to make sure when its empty or be carful not to make too much noise.

Filming underage (below 16) people. Being a school library there will be many under 16 year olds around.

Avoid filming younger people.

Filming by the lock/water in ‘Camden Town’.

Someone could accidentally drop equipment in the water and damage it, or could even fall in themselves as we plan to film close to the

water.

Always take the proper precautions and hold equipment firmly.

Don’t stand too close to the edge.

Health of group members when filming(ex in cold weather, filming for extended

hours etc)

Cold weather could lead to people getting sick and extended hours could lead to walking home

in the dark which is dangerous.

Ensure that all group members are well at all times and manage the time of filming as to not extend to dark

hours.

Type of area – ‘Camden Town’It is notorious for the risky people that hang

around the area and also know as place where drugs are sold.

Always stay with the group and don’t speak to people that seem threatening.
