Per Pima County Ordinance, face coverings shall be worn in public spaces

by those five years and older when 6 ft. of distance cannot be maintained.

“The County ordinance applies to all public spaces. We need face

coverings if we are going back to traditional school at this time.” - Dr.

Francisco Garcia, Chief Medical Officer, Pima County

“Evidence continues to mount on the importance of universal face covers

in interrupting the spread of COVID 19.” American Association of

Pediatrics

“The evidence for mask wearing unless clear reason seems prudent. The

cost and inconvenience of mask wearing are largely outweighed by the

potential benefits.” - Joe Gerald, MD, PhD, Zuckerman College of Public

Health

The recommendation is wearing of face coverings by students and staff .

Students and adults who provide medical documentation citing health

reasons for exemption will be considered individually.

Teachers will work with younger students to promote mask wearing, and

brief breaks may be given as needed.

We are offering a digital option.

GOAL: LOWER IN PERSON CLASS SIZES, WITH EXISTING BUDGET, STAFFING, AND SPACE Students attend school ½ of the days or daily instructional minutes.

Others are working independently at home PLUSES: It lowers class sizes at a given point in time by 50% CONCERNS: The relative benefit versus disruption is unknown It is disruptive to traditional education and family norms-

consistency, time in class, childcare costs It impacts educational calendars and pacing guides-1/2 the time in

class. Current Governor Order #2020-41 requires that in person

instruction be in place. Hybrid plans still require the utilization of on-site learning programs on days when students are not in session.

Schools have conceptual plans but focusing current efforts on
