Minimally Invasive Myomectomy for Large Fibroids is Possible at CIGC

LAAM: A Better Myomectomy

LAAM is a safer and more effective minimally invasive fibroid removal surgery that can be performed on any patient regardless of fibroid size, number, or location.

The LAAM procedure eliminates limitations of laparoscopic and robotic procedures. The minimally invasive approach uses only 2 small incisions, affording patients a far more effective outcome, with the fastest possible recovery.

Rashetta’s StoryRashetta struggled with pain from large fibroids. She chose to have LAAM

myomectomy at CIGC and was inspired to get involved in patient education. Her journey brought The White Dress Project to Washington DC and she now heads the DC chapter, raising awareness of fibroids and minimally invasive fibroid surgery.

“For years I saw the same doctor, waiting and watching my fibroids grow, and for a while, the pain wasn’t altering my daily activities. But then, the pain got progressively worse. I found myself in bed, crying in pain.”

“I was hesitant to change, because my doctor knew my history, but I figured it couldn’t have hurt to have a conversation with Dr. MacKoul. I realized in talking to him that I shouldn’t have done the watch and wait approach.”

“I planned to be off for 2 weeks, and I can work from home, so while I stayed home for 3 weeks, I was back working after 2.”

Celeste’s StoryCeleste was dealing with rapidly growing fibroids, threatening her ability to get

pregnant. Three doctors had told her she could only have open surgery and may require hysterectomy. She found out about CIGC from a radio ad and chose to see us. Celeste opted for minimally invasive fibroid removal through LAAM.

“I was elated to discover a hybrid surgical option to remove my fibroids that was minimally invasive, required only a small incision during outpatient surgery, and an estimated two weeks of recovery time. This seemed like a miracle!“

“I am fibroid free and kept my uterus. While I am not pregnant yet, Dr. Danilyants made our dream of having a baby a real possibility.”
