ABOUT ISTE AND STUDENTS’ CHAPTER

Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) is a national, professional non-profit making Society registered

under the Societies Registration Act of 1860.First started in 1941 as the Association of Principals of Technical

Institutions (APTI), it was converted into “Indian Society for Technical Education” in 1968 with a view to

enlarge its activities to advance the cause of technological education in the country. ISTE has an Executive

Council at National level. .The major objective of the ISTE is to assist and contribute in the production and

development of top quality professional engineers and technicians needed by the industries and other

organizations.

ISTE TAMILNADU & PUDUCHERRY Section, functioning effectively in almost all technical institutions

in TN &P. The major objective is to promote the students and faculty a best platform to apply their technical

knowledge leading to innovation and entrepreneurship with life

ISTE Students Chapter was started in Dr.N.G.P IT in the academic year 2008 to make the student

community to actively participate in ISTE activities and to provide a common platform for students to exhibit

the talent which helps in their career development.

ISTE Student Chapter Activities

• Organizing various competitions, symposiums within the college to enhance the competency and presentation

skills of students

• Organizing seminars, lectures by experts from industry and other institutions.

• Lectures on moral values and ethics

• Programmes in leadership and personality development

• Training in cooperative learning, environmental Awareness, basic management skills amongst faculty and

students

Incentives to ISTE Students Chapters

Best Student Chapter Prize And award consisting of a plaque and a certificate will be given to the best Students

Chapter in each Section based on their performance during the academic year as judged by the concerned

Section Managing Committee. The award will be presented during the Annual Convention of ISTE Students.
