A brief synopsis of the research work carried out till 30th
NOV 2014
Green chemistry emphasizes the development of environmentally benign chemical processes
and technologies. Multi-component reactions (MCR) are processes in which three or more
reactants are combined in a single chemical step to produce products that incorporate substantial
portions of all the reactants. These reactions are effective in building highly functionalized
small organic molecules from readily available starting materials coupled with minimization of
time, labor, cost and waste production. Hence, the development of MCR protocols for the
synthesis of heterocyclic compounds has attracted significant interest.
My laboratory has been engaged in the chemical synthesis of bioactive molecules using energy
efficient microwave and ultrasound techniques and under the solvent-free condition. In the past
few years my group has done appreciable work in this field and we have synthesized small
libraries of the following bioactive molecules using Green Chemistry protocols:
1). 4,6-diarylpyrimidin-2(1H)-ones;
2). Pyranopyrazoles;
3). 1,2-Dihydro-1-arylnaphtho[1,2e][1,3]oxazine-3-ones;
4). N,N'-Disubstituted ureas/thioureas;
5). Substituted Quinolines;
6). 3,4-Dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones/-thiones;
7). 2-Aminobenzochromenes;
8).1-Amidoalkyl-2-naphthylamines;
9). Pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidine-2,4,7-triones;
10). Dihydro-1H-pyrano[2,3-c]pyrazol-6-ones;
11). Tetrahydrobenzo[c]xanthene-11-ones;
12). Octahydroquinazolin-2,5-diones;
13). 1,4-Dihydropyridines;
14). 1,2,4,5-Tetraarylimidazoles;
15). 5-Aryl-1H-tetrazoles;
