Purpose of the Study

The primary purpose of this investigation was tostudy what factors

contributed to an AfricanAmerican becoming aschool superintendentand retaining that

position.

district enrollment.In 2000, the average respondent had

served an average of 8.75 years assuperintendent according to theAmerican Association of School
