If you have updates or additions to the prayer list, please call the church office at 696-7000 or email A Note from Pastor Troy I hope you are having a great start to the new semester, even if you are not in school. These are really exciting days. I am sure that you have noticed how much things pick up around here when school is in session. It's a great time to live in College Station, and a great time to be at FBC. We have had a ton of new faces here over the past few weeks. I hope that you are making the most of every opportunity to meet our guests and help them feel welcome. You'll notice as you read through this newsletter that we have added some new members to our faith family as well. This serves as even further confirmation of the great things God is doing in and through our church. I think that much of the excitement surrounding FBC these days is a direct result of prayer. A while back I challenged you to set an alarm to pray for our church every evening at 19:23 (that's 7:23pm). I hope that you are keeping up with that. If not, there's no better time to restart than now. If this is the first time you're hearing about the 19:23 prayer time, then join us. Why 19:23? That is the year that FBC was founded, and what better way to remember who we are praying for than to link our prayer time to our founding as a church. Time is running out to nominate members for the youth minister search team. You will have until this Sunday, September 11, to make those nominations. You can drop your nomination form in the offering plate on Sunday, or drop by the office this week and put it in the nomination box on the credenza in the main office. Remember to ask those whom you are nominating if they will be willing to serve before you nominate them. Don’t forget to sign your nomination form; unsigned nominations will not be accepted. I would also ask that you begin praying for the team God is going to form and for the search process as a whole. The aim in all of this is to provide a healthy handoff to the new youth minister. The Committee on Committees and Nominating Committee are hard at work filling our committees and ministry teams for 2017. Soon you will receive a survey through your Sunday school class. If there is a committee or ministry team that you would be interested in serving on, please fill out the survey and return it in your Sunday school box. Your service on a committee or ministry team helps serve our larger faith family. I hope you will prayerfully consider a way you could serve in this capacity. Committees help move our church forward in fulfilling the mission and vision God has laid before us. God wants to use you along with your talents and abilities to continue moving our church forward. As the new school year starts, we are resuming rehearsals with the various groups that don’t meet

during the summer. Our Children’s Choir program, or as we call it, W.A.M., is for boys and girls from 4

years of age through the 6th grade. They have already started meeting each Sunday beginning at

5:00pm for our Chimes of Praise (for 2nd through 6th grades) and at 6:00pm for the choirs. If you are

the parent of a child within that age span, I hope you will take advantage of this great opportunity. We

have a fantastic group of workers this year!

Our Instrumental Ensemble will begin meeting again on Tuesday, September 13th at 7:00pm. This

group is open to anyone from high school and up who plays a band or orchestra instrument. We meet

in the choir room.

Sanctuary Bells, our adult handbell choir, will resume rehearsals next Wednesday, September 14, at

5:30pm. This is a specialized group and space is limited, but we do have a few openings. Give me a

call at 696-7000 if you think this is something in which you are interested.
