During 1967-69 founded and organized taught and conducted one of the first High School Bands in Mexico in Navojoa,
Sonora. Included in this task was teaching all instruments, marching technics, planning and Spanish translation of
teaching materials, and all public relations and touring arrangements. This 50 piece band became a sensation in Western
Mexico, making several concert tours, parades and television appearances.

INSTRUMENT AND MOUTHPIECE DESIGN
Since 1976, design and performance consultant with the Willson Musical Instrument company in Flums, Switzerland.
Instrumental in the design and testing of the Willson 2900 professional euphonium in wide use by performers all over the
world today.
In conjunction with DEG Music Products, Inc, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, developed in 1995 a line of specialized Brian
Bowman euphonium mouthpieces.
Frequently consulted by euphonium manufactures, including, Yamaha, Besson, Hirshbruner, Miraphone and others in
testing and evaluating instruments.
Currently clinician for the Getzen Company, North American Distributor for Willson Band Instruments.

PROFESSIONAL MILITARY BAND CAREER
1976-1991 Euphonium soloist and section leader of The United States Air Force Band, Washington, D.C.
Currently, Concert Band Superintendent in charge of all personnel, musical affairs, auditions, etc.
Rank; Chief Master Sergeant, E-9. Principal Brass Soloist performing on national and International
tours (most recently in Japan People's Republic of China & Western Europe). Performed extensively
in all 50 states.
1974-1976 Euphonium soloist and section leader of The United States Armed Forces Bicentennial Band, the
special combined service elite musical group of the Department of Defense during the bicentennial
period. Extensive traveling as principal soloist with performances in all 50 states and 50 state capitals.
1970-1974 Euphonium soloist and section leader of The United States Navy Band, Washington, D.C. Soloist on
national tours and extensively in the Washington, D.C. area. Recorded 20 albums of the Heritage of
the March series.
RIVER CITY BRASS BAND As Principal Euphonium and Soloist with the River City Brass Band in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, performed in
approximately 120 concert per year from August, 1997- July 1999. Included were 48 concerts per year in the
subscription series in the greater Pittsburgh area, 50-70 concerts on tours across the United States. Performed in the 10-
week National Public Radio programs of the River City Brass Band broadcast nationally. Recorded Compact Disk
HEARTLAND in July, 1998
HONORS AND AWARDS 2016` Received GOLDMAN CITATION OF EXCELLANCE from the American Bandmaster’s Association
awarded at the Convention held in March, 2016 at San Luis Obispo, California

2010 Recipient of:The Clifford Bevan Award for Meritorious Work in Low Brass Scholarship, awarded at
the International Tuba Euphonium Conference, May 2010.

2002 Inducted into PHI MU ALPHA SINFONIA FRATURNITY OF AMERICA as an honorary member of the

BOWMAN SOLO COMPETITION.
