The Lord Gives Us His PresenceResponsive Call to Worship2 from Psalms 148 & 150Pastor: Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens!People: Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness!Pastor: Let everything that has breath praise the LORD!People: Young men and maidens together, old men and children!Pastor: Let them praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted;All: His majesty is above earth and heaven!

Prayer of Adoration & Praise

Hymn of Praise

O Worship the King GrantO worship the King all glorious above,

O gratefully sing His pow’r and His love;Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days,Pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise.

O tell of His might, O sing of His grace,Whose robe is the light, whose canopy space.

His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,And dark is His path on the wings of the storm.

Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail.In Thee do we trust, nor find Thee to fail;

Your mercies how tender, how firm to the end,Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend!

All hail to the King in splendor enthroned;Glad praises we bring, thy wonders make known.

Returning victorious, great conqueror of sin,King Jesus, all glorious, our vict’ry will win.

Old Testament Meditation: The Promises of the Bridegroom Isaiah 54:4-8“Fear not, for you will not be ashamed; be not confounded, for you will not be disgraced; for you will forget the shame ofyour youth, and the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more. For your Maker is your husband, the LORD

of hosts is his name; and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, the God of the whole earth he is called. For the LORD

has called you like a wife deserted and grieved in spirit, like a wife of youth when she is cast off, says your God. For a briefmoment I deserted you, but with great compassion I will gather you. In overflowing anger for a moment I hid my facefrom you, but with everlasting love I will have compassion on you,” says the LORD, your Redeemer.

2 We believe that God always initiates with sinners, so we begin worship with his invitation and command to us to gather in His name.2

The Lord Gives Us His GraceWe Confess our SinsLord Jesus, I have sinned times without number, and been guilty of pride and unbelief, and of neglect to seek youin my daily life. My sins and shortcomings present me with a list of accusations, but I thank you that they will notstand against me, for all have been laid on Christ. Deliver me from every evil habit, every interest of former sins,everything that dims the brightness of your grace in me, everything that prevents me taking delight in you. ...Silent& Personalized Confession of Sin... Amen!

The Matter of First Importance 1 Corinthians 15:1, 3Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you... For I delivered to you as of first importance what Ialso received: that Christ died for our sins.

Worship with Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs

Immortal, Invisible StoryImmortal, You are not like a man

That You change Your mind or change Your plan.Invisible, our human eyes can’t see

The depths of Your majesty.

You’re the God of forever and ever amen!The Alpha, Omega, Beginning and End.

We sing, “Hallelujah!” We worship in awe,Immortal, invisible God.

Immortal, You are not bound by death.You’re the living God, my very breath.Invisible, You are not bound by space,

But Your glory is filling this place.Yes, Your glory is filling this place.

Immortal yet You once died for me,To pay my debt, to set me free.

Invisible, You will not always be,’Cause You’re coming to reign as our King,And the saints will fall down at Your feet.

Grace Like Rain CollinsAmazing grace! How sweet the sound,

That saved a wretch like me!And I once was lost, but now I’m found,

Was blind, but now I see so clearly.

Page 5: DPC Bulletin - October 23, 2011

Hallelujah! Grace like rain falls down on me.Hallelujah! And all my stains are washed away,

They’re washed away.

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,And grace my fears relieved;

How precious did that grace appearThe hour I first believed.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,Bright shining as the sun,

We’ve no less days to sing Your praiseThan when we first begun.

Revelation Song RiddleWorthy is the,

His Tithes & Our Offerings

The Lord Gives Us His WordSermon3 Pastor Tommy Lee

Series: “Come to me… and I will give you rest.” (Matt. 11:28)

XCVII. The Midnight CryMatthew 25:1-13

We Respond

Rejoice, All Ye Believers LaurentiRejoice, all ye believers, and let your lights appear;The evening is advancing, and darker night is near:

The Bridegroom is arising, and soon He draweth nigh;Up, pray, and watch, and wrestle: at midnight comes the cry.

See that your lamps are burning; replenish them with oil;And wait for your salvation, the end of earthly toil.

The watchers on the mountain proclaim the Bridegroom near;Go meet Him as He cometh, with alleluias clear.

The Lord Gives Us His SacramentThe Sacrament of the Lord’s SupperCommunion, also called The Lord’s Supper or Eucharist, is the family meal of Christians. We invite all committedfollowers of Jesus Christ to share in this sacrament: those who are baptized members of a congregation that proclaims thegospel, who are at peace with God and their neighbor, and who seek strength to live in a deeper communion with Jesus.If you are not a Christian, or you are not prepared to share in this meal, we encourage you to spend this time in prayer.We hope that this time is helpful to you as you consider your relationship with Jesus Christ and with his people, the Church.

I Saw the Cross CarpenterI saw the cross of Jesus, when burdened with my sin;I sought the cross of Jesus, to give me peace within;

He drew my soul to Him and then He cleansed it in His blood;And in the cross of Jesus Christ I found my peace with God.

Safe, Safe am I, in the cross of Jesus!Still rest in peace unshaken

Then in glory I’ll sing His wondrous power,Where sin can never enter, and death is known no more.

3 4, 5, & 6 year-old children may be dismissed before the sermon to Godly Play in room 173.5

Page 7: DPC Bulletin - October 23, 2011

I love the cross of Jesus, it tells me what I amA vile and guilty creature, saved only through the Lamb;No righteousness nor merit mine, no beauty can I plead;

Yet in the cross I glory, my title there I read.

I trust the cross of Jesus, in every trying hour,My sure and certain refuge, my never failing tower;

In every fear and conflict see I more than conqueror am;Though living safe, or dying, through Christ, the risen Lamb.

And in the cross of Jesus Christ I found my peace with God.

The Lord Gives Us His BlessingBenediction4 Isaiah 62:5; Hosea 2:19, 20As the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you! This is what the Lord declares over his people:I will betroth you to me forever. I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy. Iwill betroth you to me in faithfulness. And you shall know the LORD.

Blessed Be the Lord God Almighty FittsBlessed be the Lord God Almighty,Who was, and is, and is to come.

Blessed be the Lord God Almighty,Who reigns forevermore.

4 Just as God called us into His presence at the beginning, so now He commands His blessing upon us as we depart. We look up and extend our handsin a posture of thanksgiving as we receive this great gift. Our final response to God’s assurance of His peace and presence upon those who are in Christis a chorus of joyful song.

Adult Christian Education Classes9:30AM

“A Long Obedience in the Same Direction”A study of Eugene Peterson’s book looking at the Psalms of Ascent (Psalms 120-134). These are the particular songs thatthe Hebrew pilgrims would sing on their way up to worship in Jerusalem, and they have much to teach us about worship,service, joy, work, happiness, humility, community and blessing. Room 158a, (right off the sanctuary).

“The Righteous Shall Live By Faith”A study of R. C. Sproul’s book looking at the book of Romans. The book of Romans has been called “Paul’s fullest,grandest, most comprehensive statement of the gospel,” and it’s just as vital for the church today as on the day it waswritten. Room 167a, (down the hall from the church office).

Sedona Class for Young AdultsThe Young Adult Class is studying the book of John, using an excellent study guide (very understandable and applicable)by Frank Barker. The book of John was “written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and thatby believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:31). Room 168a — the “waterfall room,” off the back hallway, whichcan be accessed from the hallway across from the church office.
