I am a historic core resident and work in South Park. I bring a pass ion for the comm unity that I

live in as well of an unders tanding of the needs of my neighbors. I have worked in downtown

since 2002 and had the dis tinct pleasure of serving on the Grand Ave. partnership as a

representative of the Cathedral our Lady of the Angels and seeing the city transform around

me over the last ten years. Maintaining the hi story, art, and beauty of downtown Los Angeles

while the city burgeons is my key desire.

    Donald Kronos

Born near Canada in the Upper Penins ula of Michigan, and having since traveled

throughout North American, Central American, and South America, actor and activistDonald Kronos, is a true adventurer who has known many lifestyles and many

hardships and has spent years advocating for a better life for all. His wish is that

none shou ld suffer and he strongly believes that such a world is pos sible, not

through faith alone but through a concerted effort to work with each other in an

attempt to better understand each others views, needs, des ires, and values. He

feels that an education system best serves the public when it best se rves each

individual student and he recognizes that this can not be accomplis hed by treating

students like cattle but rather by acknowledging their individual humanity and

fostering their ability to connect with each other on every level.

    Simon Ha

Simon Ha is an architect practicing and raising a family in DTLA. His profess ion,

community involvement, and residency in DTLA give him a unique qualification to

understand the needs of our commun ity and envision the future for DTLA.As an

architect, he has des igned large s cale mixed-use projects in South Park, Broadway

area, and Historic Core, which gives him knowledge indowntown planning and

    developments.

He currently serves on the DLANC Board and Co-Chairs the Planning and Land Use

    Committee.

As a parent with a daughter going to kindergarten in 2013, he has teamed up with

other DT parents to bring a quality elemen tary school op tion inDowntown. If

success ful, Metro Charter Elementary School will be open fall of 2013.

I am a deeply passionate 12 yr advocate for Downtown Los Angeles. As the Chief of

Staff at American Apparel, our growth has paralleled the citys growth. We started

sma ll here and now occupy more than 1M sq feet in downtown and em ploy more

than 5,000 peop le. Its been wonderful to be part of the revitalization of this grea t

    neighborhood.

My experience in DTLA was not in some fancy corporate office tower, but at 7th and

Alameda, at the inters ection of the Warehouse Dis trict, Little Tokyo, Arts Dis trict and

Skid Row. Working here has taught me how to get things done, be compass ionate,

produce a great product, make a difference, work hard and s tay organized. Together,

weve fought for public transportation, immigration, and environmental causes.

Id like to apply these skills even more. Please cons ider me for DLANC. I would be

honored to be of s ervice to this city.

Being a res ident in the corner of 6th and Spring for over 10 years, working on growing

and bettering our comm unity was always exciting. Now I have a lot of free time and I

believe this would be a way to give back to the community and voice some of my

neighbors concerns s uch as traffic, festivities, events, dog recreation areas , etc.

I have a lifetime of experience working in the arts and voicing humanizing points o f

view. I believe in middle grounds , compromis e and working hard for results that are

beneficial to everybody. I am NOT looking to enrich m yself or to gain any benefits, this

In the two years I have lived downtown, I have watched its transformation unfold and gained a wealth knowledge and pride

for the area. Everyday, I share my knowledge of the area and what is happening with friends and colleagues, and it truly

warms my heart to watch the pride and pass ion for downtown grow. This is an am azing community, and it is m y passion to

work with the neighborhood council and contribute to its continued success. I hope to gain the resources of the

neighborhood council to continue to establis h downtown as an exciting and world class destination for all of Los Angeles,

and all of the world, to enjoy.

    Shaun Pollenz

I moved Downtown las t year after graduating from law s chool in Orange County. I love

Downtown and I have enjoyed watching the area grow and change, yet I remain

unimpres sed with this neighborhoods condition. Downtown is a forgotten

neighborhood , left for decades to fend for itself in spite of the fact that it is hom e to our

citys government. I am ins pired, however, to help Downtown become a sa fe, vibrant,

and economically sound neighborhood instead of the desolate and abandonedframework that it is today. If elected, my priorities will include shutting down the drug

tunnel that exists on 5th Street between Rite Aid and Skid Row and bringing in new

business development to provide residents with a more complete neighborhood

    environment.
