Neighborhood Surveys . . . a great Economic Development Tool!

    The survey asks questions con-

    cerning what businesses resi-

dents would like to see Down-

    town, what type of character/

    atmosphere they think would

    generate more patrons down-

    town, what types of events/

programs they would like to see

    downtown and much more! The

survey is open ended, with no

    expiration date, so that resi-

dents will always be able to sub-

mit their opinions. From time to

time, the City will generate up-

    dated reports based on these

    surveys for work plan generation

and for City Council to review.

    The neighborhood surveys,

created by the City of East

    Points Economic Development

    Department and co-distributed

by the East Point Main Street

    Association, are, and will con-

tinue to be, a great Economic

    Development tool for the City.

    So far, almost 200 residents

    have participated. To view the

current survey results or if you

are a resident and would like to

    take the survey yourself, visit

The City is also coordinating acitywide Economic DevelopmentSummit in the spring as well.Strengths, weaknesses, opportu-nities and threats concerning the

entire City will be indentified anddiscussed with an eye towardsshort, longterm and ongoing ac-

tions to be undertaken to improveeconomic development policy, development policy, publicity, etc.Key stakeholders from varioussectors (downtown development, business community, civic/educational) will be encouraged

to participate. A retreat withMayor, Council, the Main StreetAssociation, Development Author-ity, Planning Commission, CityManager and Econ. Dev. Dept.has already occurred. You mightnot see a lot of dirt turned right

now, but we are very busy posi-tioning ourselves for an economicrecovery.
