welcome to the camberwell arts festivalFinding its way into the furthest corners of Camberwell, this year’s Festival turns the whole of SE5 into a creative playground. From pubs to parks, cafes to crypts, we invite you to try your luck and explore the area in new and unexpected ways.
Take your pick from a varied programme of exhibitions, events, talks, walks, workshops, open studios and screenings as Camberwell throws open its doors. From an Art Party on Camberwell Green to interactive Evensong, this year’s focus is on participation. With a wide range of workshops on offer, we invite everyone to make some art, do something different and Try Your Luck during this year’s Festival.
Now in its 23rd year, the Camberwell Arts Festival has grown out of and celebrates the vibrant artistic community in Camberwell. It is developed as a partnership between local artists, residents and organisations and is co-ordinated by Camberwell Arts, a registered charity that aims to promote the arts in Camberwell – and Camberwell through the arts.
For further information, visit www.camberwellarts.org.uk or contact us on [email protected]
Camberwell Arts would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this year’s Festival, including our sponsors, participating venues and the many wonderful artists and performers taking part.

GREENO P E N I N GSATURDAY10TH JUNE10AM – 5PM
ART PARTY ON THE GREEN
Join us for an Art Party on Camberwell Green to celebrate the launch of this year’s Camberwell Arts Festival.
Start your day with a literary breakfast led by Literary Kitchen and finish with swing dancing on the Green. In between there’s something for everyone – from an arts and crafts market to an art-inspired cake competition (www.camberwellarts.org.uk/cakecomp).
This is your chance to get arty as Camberwell Green becomes a creative playground for the day.
At the hub of our party is the Arts Tent, offering workshops for all ages and abilities in everything from kite making to puppetry. Help us decorate with hand made bunting, dazzle in your party headband or create your own drum to deliver those party rhythms.
You can also go home with the ultimate party bag when you make your own lantern or bracelet. Book in advance to guarantee your place with some drop-in workshops available on the day.

Combining beatboxing, choral voices, electronic music and orchestral arrangements, Nocturnes Wonder draws out the ways music can affect and reflect our perceptions of reality. Fluctuations in rhythm and melody create shifting sequences, playfully detonating mood changes, adrenaline rushes or the anticipation of wellbeing.
Nocturne Wonders features UK female beatboxer KimmyBeatbox, the Camberwell Community Choir and CoolTan Arts members’ voices.
Piece duration: 30mins
Isa Suarez produced Nocturnes Wonder in partnership with CoolTan Arts and with support from Camberwell Arts and Arts Council England.
CoolTan Arts is an award- winning arts mental health charity run by and for adults with experience of mental health conditions.
Isa Suarez is an award-winning composer originating from the Basque Country and based in London/Camberwell. She works across genres of music making from large scale public artworks to film scores to songwriting.
More info on Suarez here: www.isasuarez.com
Nocturnes Wonder by composer Isa Suarez Launching at Camberwell Arts Festival 2017, Nocturnes Wonder is an open invitation to join us on a musical journey that runs through the night.
