BibleWorksTutorialThistutorialismeanttointroduceyoutoBibleWorksandexplainthenecessaryfunctionstogetyoustarted.ItisbasedontheBibleWorks8HelpContents,whichyoucanalwaysaccessthroughBibleWorksbyhittingtheF1keyorselectingHelpfromthemenubar.ThereyoucanalsofindStudyGuides,whicharetaskspecific.YoucanreceiveadditionalsupportbyemailingAcademicServices.OrientingyourselftoBibleWorksTherearethreeprimarywindowsthatcomposetheBibleWorksinterface.TheSearchWindowiscomprisedoftheCommandLineandtheResultsBox.TheBrowseWindowdisplaysyourresultsandyoucanselecttoviewasmanytranslationsasyouwish.TheAnalysisWindowprovideslexicalandmorphologicalinformationaswellasaplacefornotes,asectiontoedittext,crossreferences,andotherhelpfultabs.

searchversion)infullwithsurroundingtext.Thismodeisbestforevaluatingcontext.
MultipleVersionMode:Thisdisplaysasingleverseinalltheselecteddisplayversions.Thismodeisbestforcomparingapassageindifferentlanguagesandtranslations.

GettingstartedwithBibleWorksChooseyoursearchversionSelecttheversionoftheBibleyouwishtosearch.Typethethree‐letterabbreviationintotheCommandLineifyouknowit(example:NRSfortheNewRevisedStandardVersion).Ifyoudonotknowtheabbreviation,clickthegreenbardisplayingthecurrentsearchversionbelowtheCommandLineandselectChooseSearchVersion.Thenselectthedesiredversion.Translationsareorganizedalphabeticallybylanguage.
PerformascripturesearchIntheCommandLine,typethethree‐letterbookabbreviationfollowedbythechapterandverse(s).Theabbreviationforallcanonicalworksisthefirstthreelettersofthebookname.Genesisisgen.1Kingsis1ki.
Tip:Typing“gen”or“Genesis”intotheCommandLinewillresultinanerrormessage.Ifyouwanttosearchaparticularbookfromthebeginning,includea“1”besidethebookabbreviationsoBibleWorksdoesnotinterpretyourqueryasanattempttochangetheSearchVersion.Yoursearchshouldread“gen1.”
