About OSE / CSF This award winning 501c3 nonprofit offers the best science teaching possible. We teach science fundamentals to grades 2-10, helping kids develop an interest in science. We have 3 programs which include series of classes during or after school, 5 weeks of summer field trips, and a week of backpacking in Yosemite. We're student centered and based on fun, active, hands-on learning activities and experiments. We realize the immense importance of effective science education for school and job opportunities, life time earnings and for contributing to our future’s scientific capital. Founder Irvin Lindsey is an accomplished Master Teacher. After years of distinguished teaching experience he founded OSE in 1996 to focus on multisensory active learning. He has taught science for many years in the classroom and outdoors with classes ranging from elementary to college levels. He enjoys a special talent for connecting with students of many ages. Irvin was selected as both a United Way Community Hero and a Hands-on Award Winner from San Jose's Resource Area for Teachers. Co-Leader Mary Edith Ingraham is a refreshing and invaluable re- source as well as a former Girl Scout and Girl Scout Leader. Her helpful expertise is in many areas from website and software development to woodworking, yoga, dance, swimming and fine cooking, all done with an inspiring and meticulous proficiency.

by a check or transfer. Up to $200 can be returned for doing well. Tuition includes both meetings, packing lessons, trip preparations, entrance fee waiver, bear can rental, and trail fees and reservations.

This exciting and rewarding ~35 mile event is for exemplary older students. It combines opportunities for developing self-confidence and experiencing challenging exercise with learning-by-discovery in this exceptional and world famous national park. It also allows a healthy break from technology with time and space to relax and think. The minimum age is 10-12, maximum age is 17, and the maximum group size is about 12.Students carpool with parents, provide their

own meals and gear, and attend informational meetings. There will be 8 breakfasts and dinners with 7 lunches plus snacks, starting with 7/23 Saturday dinner and ending with 7/31 Sunday breakfast. We meet at the Hetch Hetchy backpackers campground by O'Shaughnessy Dam at 1:30pm. The HH glacier

etched valley underwent a massive

transformation in 1913 when

the dam was built, and we'll

see reminders of nature's beauty

in Yosemite Valley's sibling

with stunning high Sierra trails,

waterfalls, lakes and vistas.

Depending on the weather we can visit a nearby peak or cross country to a secluded lake and campsite. There are lots of places to swim and relax.BOTH REQUIRED MEETINGS will be at 7pm. and the location will be emailed to participants.July 6, Wed. & July 18, Mon.
