I take opportunities to welcome you in this journey through the Department of Business Management. I feel very happy to inform you that our department hascompleted successful years providing highly efficient managers to the industry, service organizations and other field of business.

“If you want to build a ship, don't drum up the men to go to the forest to gather wood, saw it, and nail the planks together. Instead, teach them the desire for the sea.”

The world has entered into the new era of information Technology, Growing Economy and Global Standards. To handle the new era, young skilled talents are required, which are nurtured by the Department of Business Management. They are eligible to cope-up with the changes that occur.

Our aim is to polish our students, equipping them with current management practices and providing them with a global vision. We are benchmarking in the Saurashtra Region to produce managers who will be ethical and honest players of the corporate world.

The Department and its faculties continuously strive to inculcate in to th students the spiritual power to face the challenges and difficulties that they are going to face in their lives.so we are emphasizing on the basic quality of spiritual quant that is the basic quality of the leaders.

Do More Than Read-ABSORB

About the University

Saurashtra University, established on 23rd May, 1967, is situated in Rajkot city of the Saurashtra region of Gujarat State. The campus of the university is spread over 363 acres of land. The jurisdiction of the university includes Amreli, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Porbandar, Rajkot, Surendar Nagar districts. It has 29 post Graduate Departments on its campus and 298 affiliated colleges.

In the last five years, the university has made unique strides in the following areas:


The Sarurashtra University took the initiative to implement choice based credit system within the state of Gujarat for the first time. Now we have choice based credit system (CBCS) both for UG and PG for all the faculties.

The Saurashtra university is applying again for reaccreditation in Feb.2014

The NAAC has reaccredited the university as Grade 'B' with the CGPA 2.93 which is valid up to march 2014

The university has a network of more than 298 affiliated colleges, and 29 P.G Departments on the campus to cater growing needs of higher education.

The university officers a range of total of 238 programmers comprising 39 UG, 32PG, 14 M.Phil. 35 Ph.D.,20 PG Diploma, 63 Diploma, 21 Certificate and 14 other miscellaneous Programs.

The university has introduced 17 new courses and started two new P.G.Departments in the last four years to meet challenges of widening employment opportunities.

The University undertook major revision of syllabi of 50 programmes in the last five years to keep pace with the changing scenario of knowledge and employment sectors.

The P.G.departments on the campus and UG Department at college have switched over from 'annual' to 'semester' system with choice based credit system for the last five years.


The university has undergone good number of National and International collaborations in research and teaching e.g. Griffith University, Australia and California State University, Long Beach (USA), particularly to encourage students and teachers exchange program.

The university addresses the question of equity by implementing the statutory reservation policy of the state and the UGC for SC, ST, OBCS, physically challenged, single girl-child household, etc. at the entry level of admissions in the UG and PG programmes of the University. Also, the university has implemented 'Earn while Learn' scheme for helping the needy students for the last six years.

Through its career counseling and development Centre (CCDC) and institution Industry Interaction cell (IIIC), the issues of placement and career guidance is well taken care of.

International Accreditation Organization (IAO) has accredited the Saurashtra University in 2013.

The university has been trying to reach the global students through International Students Admission Cell and ICCR.

The university has established Vidushi (The Center for Women's Studies and Research) on the campus with the core aim of undertaking and supporting academic and social initiatives responsible for upgrading the social and economic status of women in this region.

The University has established 'optical fiber' campus-wide network and installed 512 KBPS bandwidth through VSAT and 2 MBPS bandwidth leased line from ERNET, which facilitates the access to e-resources in the campus and encourage ICT based learning and delivery at all stages of learning and teaching.

The university at present offers external courses for U.G. and P.G programs based on choice based credit system.

I.Q.A.C. is working as full fledge cell for supporting the academic and research activity of the university.

I.Q.A.C. has organized many workshop/conference/seminar with the collaboration of other departments.

About Department

The Department of Business Management continusly strives to become a center of excellence in all aspects of management education by delivering various academic programmes in a dynamic learning environment, by increasing its linkages with industries and communities, keeping in view the goal of responding to the changing regional, national and leadership, transparency, efficiency, accountability, creativity, high ethical and more values and standards. The pedigree of the department was impeccable and well planned with the approval of the UGC and the state government, the Department was establish in 1996 as per the norms prescribed by AICTE, New Delhi.

Department's modern classrooms are having state of the art infrastructure facilities. They also naturally lighted and large airy class room with a structure having high ceilings and large corridors are designed to promote maximum interaction between the faculty and students. The a/c classrooms is well equipped with computer, multimedia and LAN connectivity both the theme style and classic classroom are furnished with specially designed desk for the comforts of students.

The department provides all necessary material to all students free of cost. It also provides bibliography of reference material to all the students.

Study material

In today's modern era one needs to be technically advanced. Computer skills are one of the most un-ignorable aspects in any chosen field. Department has a well-established and well equipped central computing facility housed in two computer labs which is accessible to students on flash of their ID card. Apart from a host of routine and special softwares which the computer labs have the latest operating systems such as windows 2008 server and windows 2007 professional OS at the client level. All PCs are Pentium based with 24*7 hours internet access.

Computer Laboratory

Department of Business Management has big library, on first floor which is stacked with books on a wide range of management subject. The collection in the library is constantly enriched with books beyond those prescribed by the syllabus. The library is subscribed to national and international journals in the print format. Also audio and video cassettes and CD-ROM are available for reference study. The library is also equipped with past exam papers, project reports, and others reference materials.

The University has an aesthetically built modern hostel to facilitate its students. To cater to the growing demand of hostel accommodation, it is providing separate residences for men and women both hostels are well furnished, have 24*7 security arrangements. Students desirous of staying in the hostel are required to reserve the seats at the time of application for admission. Preference is given to outstation students.

It is my immense pleasure to share my experience of two years of MBA. The Department of Business Management has filled the gap between the theoretical aspects and corporate world. It was my wonderful experience of learning throughout the two years. During my M. B.A., we have been given practical exposure through various teaching pedagogies rather than only focusing on theories. It has developed our interpersonal skills as well as personality. Faculties at Dept. with their enriched knowledge have nourished my career with essentials skills which are fast needs of today's corporate. Getting work done through others is the conventional definition of management but at the Department, I have learnt a growing approach towards this i.e. 'developing people through work'.
