The NearbySensor Automation&IoT network
(GPS, Screen, Camera Accelerometer, etc)
100% capable: NearbySensor achieves its assign-
ments, whatever the automation or IoT/M2M proces-
ses you need to build up, whatever the complexity
and whatever the sensors, algorithms or types of data
involved. NearbySensor’s set of SW and HW pieces
will fit exactly to your business operative needs.
Full automation, full IoT, full data processing and
communication: Experience the power of the Inter-
net of Everything, by getting the advantages of two
converging worlds: operational technologies (OT)
and information technologies (IT). Supported by its
driver-based architecture, NearbySensor is designed
to establish and manage bi-directional communica-
tion between them. With no limits. So, NearbySensor
can quickly integrate and associate existing physical
sensing devices, but also IT data or IT events
(pictures, excel sheets, incoming e-mails, DB triggers,
file system changes, etc).
A single and unique multipurpose SW and HW.
NearbySensor technology allows the co-processing
and interconnection of all the concurrent control
services running in a managed space (which may be a
city street, a technical space, an office, a classroom, a
production plant, etc.) Think of the efficiency gains
when all this example control processes are gover-
ned by a single system:
· Energy consumption optimizing
· Access control
· Environmental monitoring
· Data logging and analysing of industrial processes
· Integration of classic automation systems (PLC)
· Infrastructure operation processes
· Video capture and interpretation
· Air quality control and mapping
· Vehicle data acquisition and processing, etc
and when they can be transparently connected with
any kind of business management software (ERP,
Building Management Software, File Manager
Systems, Database engines, Mail servers, etc).
Automation/IoT services and applications as an
app-like catalog: in NearbySensor’s architecture,
applications are abstract entities, which means they
are not linked to a specific hardware but to any
function-compliant hardware, whatever the
underlying technology. This way, code is re-usable
for an infinite range of HW and sensor vendors,
making it possible to integrators and businesses to
choose among them according to price, accuracy,
reliability, availability...
Secure: NearbySensor places security at the heart of
the code. By using a mix of existing state-of-the art
techniques, all the components raise the security
level to the top standards.
Hardware agnostic: NearbySensor runs on any
system architecture supporting LinuxOS, WinOS or
MacOS. For a quicker deployment of solutions Near-
bySensor has designed the NearbyBox device family,
with which the major part of usual projects may be
addressed.
Field and communication multiprotocol enabled:
existing drivers for the most usual field buses (CAN,
ModBus, BacNet…) and for all types of IoT and
wireless communication protocols (API/REST,
MQTT, XMPP, etc and Wi-Fi, BLE, Bluetooth, IEEE
802.15.4, GPRS/3G/4G, Radio-frequency, etc) make
interconnection of sensors, actuators and other
systems a no-brainer.
Built with well-known technologies: NearbySensor’s
Platform and Productivity Suite are HTML5 web
applications that may run in your existing IT premises
or be rented on a cloud-service basis. NearbyAgent is
a SW framework able to be downloaded on Linux,
Windows, MacOs or Android. NearbyBox is a family of
Linux-based devices with a standard CPU at its core.
Cloud resources liberator: NearbySensor belongs
to the group of distributed computing systems and
services (also called Edge or Fog Computing). The
processing of data flows remains at the field contro-
ller level, taking also care of computational loads or
allocating them in the most efficient way. With this
approach automation processes do not depend on
public telecom networks and are achieved at a
fraction of the time, and so making possible to
support time-sensitive processes.
Affordable: Integration processes are 99% of times
defined and developed at the highest level, usually
involving semi-closed systems from different vendors.
Low-level integration allows a much more quicker
and easier process, bringing off a new scale of prices.
Protecting businesses existing and future investments.
NearbySensor may be easily seized to a business
current needs, and scaled as they grow or change. Its
cost is structured on a per-controller basis, not on a
per-signal basis.
SDK tools. A SDK is available to facilitate to integra-
tors the customizing of any sensors network beha-
viour, monitoring, and reporting.
Aggregate smartphone or desktop pc internal
sensors to the control network. Any smartphone or
tablet contains a long list of physical sensors and actua-
NearbySensor outcomes tors. A desktop pc has also a few. And both run SW
services which can be also considered sensors. Near-
bySensor is prepared to aggregate any of them to an
automation/IoT network in order in using them in any
control logics. For instance, a control access code of a
door may not be enabled unless the GPS of the person’s
smartphone indicates he is in front of that door.
Single screen of maintenance. Multi-screen mainte-
nance workplaces may be forgotten. Monitor, opera-
te and manage alarms with a unique screen (desktop
computer, tablet, smartphone…).
Integrator and installer friendly: entry barriers for
integrators and installers are very low, as the
programming languages (if you need specific develo-
pments), are the most common ones (Python, PHP,
SQL etc). Installers will also be helped by clear
connections rules and patterns, with helpful software
to check the correct completion of the installation.
Compatible with major IoT cloud platforms: Near-
bySensor may also be used to work transparently
with any IoT cloud platform like IBM Watson IoT,
Microsoft Azure IoT Suite, AWS IoT, Fiware, Google
Cloud Platform, etc
Open and easily integrable with existing systems. NearbySensor may be placed at the heart of your
automation/IoT network or entrusted to deliver only a
part of the tasks. In any case, connection with existing
systems in a given environment (such as Sentilo, Won-
derware Scada...) is a simple matter, since NearbySen-
sor shares the most common open systems standards.
NearbySensor Products
Nearby Sensoris a set of products designed and developed to work together or to be integrated with third parties
products.
Required:
NearbyPlatform, a web application where the automation/IoT network is set up, by identifying its compo-
nents and the automation/IoT process rules. A basic catalog of services/applications is included.
NearbyAgent, a framework installed in every controller in the automation/IoT network. A controller may-
be a NearbyBox, third-parties hardware, a smartphone, a desktop computer...any device where a Nearby
Agent will be running*.
Optional:
NearbyProductivity: a complete suite designed to take advantage of your automation/IoT network data.
It is optional because data can be sent to your existing integrations systems (ERP, BI, SCADA, etc). With
this NearbySensor module you will:
Monitor&Operate Get visual information of the state of sensors and actuators, take remote control of them.
Maintain Manage the current alarms and get statistics on the past ones.
Analyze Get statistics on the incoming data from your sensors (energy consumption, environment con-
ditions, etc) with pre-defined rules or build your own statistical patterns.
Deploy Manage and update the network nodes at the OS level, with a single click.
NearbyBox: available controllers designed or selected by NearbySensor, for a faster project deployment.
