Chain link fabric height: The standard heights produced are 3 feet up to 12 feet. Some fabrics can be

special ordered in heights up to 20 feet.

Chain link fabric selvage (top and bottom edge finish): Knuckled selvage refers to bending the two

adjacent pairs of wire back into a tight loop. Twist selvage refers to twisting the adjacent pairs of wire

into a close helix of the equivalent to three full twists. The twist selvage has two sharp points for the

purpose of enhancing security, for security applications the twist selvage can be specified for the top

and bottom selvage. For consumer safety consideration, chain link fabric having 2 inch mesh in heights

less than 72 inches and fabric having a mesh size less than 2 inches are manufactured having a knuckled

finish at the top and bottom, “K&K”. Chain link fabric having 2 inch mesh in heights 72 inches and

greater is manufactured having a knuckle finish at one selvage and a twist selvage at the other, “K&T”.

SAFETY ALERT: Specify K&K selvage for 2 inch mesh in heights 72 inches and greater for play area, parks,

play fields, ball fields, pools etc.

SNAPTIE - STANDARD

Snaptie has round heads, anti-turn deformations and 1" breakback. The Snaptie is available equipped with either

plastic spreader cones or loose neoprene washers. For additional rust and corrosion resistance, the Standard Snaptie is available

in HDG steel.

NOTE: The plastic cones, furnished from high impact polystyrene, are available in the sizes 1x1. Cones are preferred over a loose washer tie

since it covers the break back portion of the tie. Such guarantee of break back is not available with the loose washer tie. When removed the

plastic cone also provides a better cavity for grouting purposes. Attempting to breakback any tie, before the concrete has been allowed to

properly set, may result in the entire tie turning freely in the wall, making the normal breakback procedure no longer possible. Washer style

snapties should be removed before 24 hours of concrete pour.

Safe Working Load (lbs) 2,250

Safe working load is based on an Approximate 2:1safety factor.

SNAPTIE WATERSEAL

All Snapties are available with a neoprene washer to aid in preventing

moisture seepage along the tie wire. Specify this feature when ordering a snaptie product.

Welded Wire Reinforcement

Welded wire reinforcement also named as Welded wire mesh is a prefabricated reinforcement consisting of parallel series of high-strength, cold draw or cold rolled wire welded together in square or rectangular grids. Each longitudinal wire is electrically-welded to traverse steel wires at square angles therewith, also spaced in a parallel pattern between each other, thereby forming wire meshes. Wire meshes are elaborated following the specifications ASTM A-1064 standards.

SAVING ADVANTAGES

Welded Wire Reinforcement (WWR), with its higher yield strength and other material characteristics, can be significant savings on projects through the proper use of WWR. These savings come in material and labor costs. Material costs savings (up to 25%) come from less material is needed, and labor savings (up to 50%) is due to less manpower and faster installation.

Puerto Rico Steel Products produces quality Welded Wire Reinforcement (WWR), in sheets and rolls, for the construction and pre-cast industries.

Save time and money by using Welded Wire Reinforcement (WWR) in your precast pipe and

box culverts. WWR is a major ingredient of precast concrete pipe and precast concrete box

culverts because it provides an economical solution to your drainage problems.

WWR is available in large rolls or individual sheets that are rolled into reinforcing cages. The

savings in labor during the assembly of reinforcement plus the ability to meet

tight dimensional tolerances

WWR Mesh Rolls are made using both smooth (W) and deformed (D) wire. Been Produce with exact steel areas and precise designs, we can eliminate unnecessary stockpiling of steel materials and over steeling. Each order can be customized to meet the unique requirements of your concrete pipe manufacturing equipment, thereby eliminating waste.

(WWR)

WIRE MESH SIZE DESIGNATION:

Individual wire (plain and deformed) size designations are based on the cross-sectional area of given wire. The prefixes “W” and “D” are used in combination with a number. The letter “W” designates a plain wire and the letter “D” designates a deformed wire. The number following the letter gives the cross –sectional area in hundredths of a square inch. For instance, wire designation D6 would indicate a deform wire with a cross sectional area of 0.06 sq.in.

Since the engineer now the cross-sectional area of a wire and the spacing ,the total cross sectional area per foot of width can be easily determinate. For instance a D6 wire on 4 inch center would provide 3 wires per foot with a total cross sectional area of 0.18 sq.in. per foot of width.

STYLE & DIMENSIONS:

Spacing and sizes of wire in WWR are identified by “Style.” A typical style designation is:

8’x 20’ 6” x 12” W12 x W5

These denote a WWR Mesh Matt which:

Width of mesh matt: 8’

Length of mesh matt : 20’

Spacing of longitudinal wire of : 6”

Spacing of transversal wire of: 12”

Size of longitudinal wire of : W12 ( 0.12 sq.in.)

Size of transversal wire of : W5 (0.05 sq.in.)

Page 18: Double Loop Wire Ties

SPECIFICATIONS:

Welded wire reinforcement covers the following ASTM specifications: ASTM 1046 ASTM A82, ASTM A185, ASTM A496, ASTM A497 Minimum mechanical properties: Tensile Strength: 80,000 psi Yield Strength: 70,000 psi Weld Shear Strength: 35,000 psi (D4 and Over) (Plain wire meshes are -5,000 psi than deformed wire mesh)

ASTM A787 TUBING

PUERTO RICO STEEL PRODUCTS CORP produces round electric resistance welded (ERW) metallic-coated carbon steel mechanical tubing to ASTM specifications A787), Type 2 and Type 4. ASTM A787 tubing is used in a variety of agricultural, industrial, transportation and industrial related end uses. For a complete listing of sizes produced, please

visit our PRODUCT THECNICAL DETAILS SHEET

A787 Type 2 ASTM A787 Type 2 welded mechanical tubing is produced using carbon steel that has been pre-coated with a thin layer of zinc while in coil form. A787 Type 2 tubing is often used in applications where rust resistance is critical and provides for extended durability than non-coated carbon steel.

A787 Type 6 ASTM A787 Type 6 welded mechanical tubing is produced using steel that has been pre-coated with a thin layer of a zinc-aluminum-magnesium alloy coating while in coil form as specified in ASTM A1046. Tubing produced to A787

Type 6 provides a high degree of corrosion resistance and an excellent surface appearance and is a bridge between stainless and hot-dip galvanized finishes.

Specification Notes • ASTM A787 covers carbon steel grades starting at 1008 up through

1021. Please visit our Finishes & Chemistries page for a listing of our standard chemistry capabilities.

• Physical testing (yield, tensile and elongation) is not required under A787. If there is a specific strength requirement for your application, please be sure to include at the time of inquiry as that will affect the chemistry required.

• ASTM A513 is a related mechanical tubing specification that covers non-metallic coated carbon and alloy steel tubing. Please refer to the ASTM A513 page for more information.

• For more detailed information on the A787 specification and to purchase a copy of it, please visit the ASTM website.

Glossary ASTM ASTM is the abbreviation for the American Society for Testing & Materials which is the governing body that publishes specifications that cover the ordering of steel, types of testing required and types of tubing produced among others. The ASTM website has a complete listing of specifications that you can search for more information. Chemical Properties Chemical properties are the mimimum and maximum limites of chemical elements as established by ASTM and SAE specifications. Coil Steel coils are sheets of steel that have been wound up by a steel mill. Large coils are slit or cut down to smaller widths desired in order to produce tubing. Hardness A mechanical property of steel that measures the resistance to indentation. Hardness is related to the maximum strength of steel.

Page 26: Double Loop Wire Ties

ID ID refers to the inside diameter of the tubing. It is specified in inches and decimals of an inch. Mechanical Properties The mechanical properties of steel show the elastic and inelastic reaction of the steel when force is applied to it. Yield strength, tensile strength and elasticity are common mechanical tests performed. Also referred to physical properties. Minimum Wall Thickness The lowest value that steel can be measured at in order to ensure that it meets the corresponding ASTM specification for the coil or tube or customer requirement specified. It can be calculated by subtracting the minus tolerances from the nominal wall thickness. Nominal Wall Thickness The theoretical or stated single value given to the gauge or wall thickness of steel. OD is an abbreviation for outside diameter. It is expressed in inches, decimals of an inch and in metric. Ovality Ovality is the difference between the maximum and minimum diameters of any one section of a round tube as measured. Tensile StrengthTensile strength - also referred to as "ultimate strength" - is a measure of the ability of steel to withstand a longitudinal stress, expressed as the greatest stress that the steel can stand without breaking. TolerancesThe allowable difference in measurements from a desired value between what the customer requests or what an ASTM specification calls out for. Examples of common tubing tolerances include OD, ID, wall thickness, chemical and length tolerances. TubingTubing is a non-standardized hollow shaped product manufactured to specific dimensional, chemical and mechanical properties. It is important to distinguish between the terms tubing and pipe. A tube is identifed by the OD size and wall thickness while a pipe is produced to nominal specifications. A 2" NPS schedule 40 "pipe" size would be described as 2.375" OD x .156" wall in a "tube" size. Yield StrengthYield strength is the stress at which steel begins to exhibit a specified deviation from inelastic strain.
