Keystone Dubex – RMI AWWA Butterfly ValvesFeatures • Triple eccentric design:
- 1st offset: center line of the resilient disc seal is offset from the center line of the shafts.
- 2nd offset: the center line of the shaft is offset from the valve body.
- 3rd offset: the Keystone Dubex – RMI body seat landing surface has the shape of an oblique cone with the ground surface perpendicular to one side of the cone.
• Triple eccentric design, along with a resilient disc seal, ensures bi-directional drop-tight shutoff per the AWWA C504 specifications.
• In-line replaceable resilient disc seal.
• Fully rated dead end service.
• Standard body seating surface is ductile iron with Epoxy lining (Epasfill). Alternative seating surfaces such as stainless steel are available on request.
• Dry shaft option available.
• Axial bottom shaft bearing carrying the disc weight when installed with shaft in vertical position and ensuring accurate centering of the disc assembly.
• Reversed V-shaped packing for vacuum applications.
• Open brackets for packing access and adjustments are available on request.
• Self-lubricating bearings are PTFE lined. Alternative bushing materials are available on request.
• Horizontal or vertical shaft mounting.
• Low head loss, suitable for throttling services.
• Face-to-face:
- Alternative face-to-face dimensions on request.
• AWWA POD (Proof Of Design) certificates for valves and gear units available.
• Clockwise closing, optional counter clockwise closing.

3rd eccentricity
• Torque seated: greater torque results in improved tightness.
• Closing torque is in direct relation with the shutoff pressure, which results in smaller actuator selections at lower pressures.
• Virtually no rubbing from the resilient seal on the seating surface. This enhances the life and performance of the elastomer disc seal.
• Large diameter valves are normally in open position. Sediments can settle on the body seating surface. Due to the specific geometry these, sediments are wiped off during closing, improving sealing performance.
• The resilient disc seal is replaceable in-line.

Available Technical Options
1. Dry shaft option Alternative to high corrosion resistance shaft materials, the Keystone Dubex – RMI valve can be equipped with the optional dry shaft provision. In that case, the standard shaft material is better protected from the media by applying a rubber lining. This lining helps protect the standard shaft material against corrosive environments.
2. Combined Butterfly Check Valve (CBCV)

3. Fabricated design For specific applications, such as vacuum service and buried service, a fabricated Keystone Dubex – RMI valve design is available.
It incorporates all advantages of the triple eccentric resilient seated butterfly valves with the features of a butt weld valve having identical wall thicknesses between pipe and valve.
Having equivalent materials ensures proper welding and avoids cracking due to different material expansion coefficients.
This unique and proven configuration combines the advantages of a tight shutoff butterfly valve with the non-slamming action of a high end check valve. The combined butterfly check valve is a cost effective alternative to existing pump protection solutions such as traditional swing type check valves, and large and complex cone type valves.
Specific advantages of the combined butterfly check valve design: • Power failure to close. • Very short closing times. • Simple, reliable quarter-turn operation eliminating the use of
multi-turn gears on sensitive electrical equipment.
• Controlled closing times in order to avoid water hammer. • Quick opening times. • Non-slamming design. • Bidirectional tight shutoff service. • Available with add on power packs, control panels and cabinets. • In-line adjustable seat. • In-line maintenance. • Non-rubbing soft seat, enhancing the lifetime expectation. • Fully lined versions available for corrosive services. • Custom made.
