Step 1. Draw the axes. Label the vertical axis. Choose an appropriate scale and mark equal intervals.

Step 2. Label horizontal axis and list the age intervals.

Step 3. Draw a bar for each age interval. Do not leave spaces between the bars.

Step 4. Give the graph a title.

    1) Suppose the property taxes for 12 families are given below:

    $800$1150 $100 $1000 $950 $800 $1050 $1050 $500 $800 $1050 $ 1150

    a) Make a dot plot of the data.

    b) Find the Median.

    c) Find the range.

    d) Find the interquartile range.

    e) Are there any outliers, how do you know?

    2) In the year 2000-2010 how did the increasing popularity of iTunes (Mp3 Digital CD) affect sales of compact disc’s (CD)? The table shows the number of CD’s and iTunes (Mp3 Digital CD) sold in those years.

Year & Number of Sales (in millions)

    2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009

    Full – Mp3 digital CD 31 38 47 51 58 65 68 70 75 83

Make a graphical display (of your choice) to compare CD’s and Mp3-digital CD sales. Write a few sentences describing what your graph tells you. Make a conclusion to how did the increasing popularity of iTunes (Mp3 Digital CD) affect sales of compact disc (CD)?

    3) The following data consists of the weights, in pounds, of 30 Algebra 1 students:

    195, 206, 100, 98, 150, 210, 195, 106, 195,168, 180, 212, 104, 195, 100, 216, 195, 209,112, 99, 206, 116, 195, 100, 142, 100, 135,98, 160, 155

Using the data, complete the frequency table and construct histogram on the grid below.
