Biologicos E.B. s.l., broadening its scope of work to new

lines of work.

From its inception it has collaborated with the public

administration and the private sector, both in Spain and

abroad.

conservation of natural resources, contributing to the

socioeconomic development of countries. For this

One of the main areas of activity

developed by Probitec Probitec Probitec Probitec is the study and

conservation of the marine biosphere.

Probitec has participated in projects to

identify and characterise Marine

Protected Areas, and has been an

advisor for the implementation in

Spain of the Habitats Directive in the

marine environment, and the OSPAR

and Barcelona conventions.

As well, Probitec Probitec Probitec Probitec has undertaken

planning studies in coastal marine

areas and studies of environmental

impact of human activity in the sea. In

order to carry out those studies, the

company has the necessary mapping,

sampling, and analysis tools.

preserve the marine environment

through a sustainable use of

resources, preventing biodiversity loss

and minimising human impacts on

has worked on numerous projects dealing with fisheries and aquaculture in

Spain as well as in other countries. For several years ProbitecProbitecProbitecProbitec maintained the

fisheries offices of the Secretariat General for Marine Affairs in Montevideo and

Dakar. Similarly, through the Directorate General for Biodiversity, ProbitecProbitecProbitecProbitec has

been a consultant on the Natura 2000 Network in the marine environment and

on the creation of a network of marine protected areas in Spain.

Marine Industries Foundation (INNOVAMAR) has as its primary purpose to pro-

mote research and development in the areas of naval shipbuilding industry and

auxiliary industries, marine shipping and the exploitation of marine resources.

ating a Mutual Guarantee Society for the fishing sector.

Among other actions the Strategic Plan for fisheries and aquaculture in the Titi-

caca Lake should be noted, as well as the technical assistance to improve 45

artisan fishing docks on the Peruvian coast and the region of Loreto. Also

should be noted the work done to create and start up the aquaculture census

and the technical feasibility study on the installation of a experimental farm to

raise juvenile tuna in Peruvian waters.

eral technical assistance projects within the framework of the PADESPA project

cooperation projects.

Verde, Algeria, and Mozambique.

based in Lima, is becoming established as an essential tool for all fishing coun-

tries and countries with potential for the development of aquaculture in Latin

America. ProbitecProbitecProbitecProbitec has a mandate to seek projects and international funding

prospects for them, acting as consultants in this matter. ProbitecProbitecProbitecProbitec has recently

coordinated the project to create a protocol to improve de quality of hydrobio-

logical products from artisanal fisheries and aquaculture in seven countries

part of Oldepesca.

sociated with the organisation to implement the 188 Work in Fishing Conven-

Spain, as well as presented at an international seminar on working conditions

aboard fishing vessels.

creasing presence in Europe. Among others, PEW is the promoter and primary

funder of the OCEAN2012, Seas at Risk and Shark Alliance platforms. ProbitecProbitecProbitecProbitec

has worked for PEW on an assessment of public financing for European fleets

and the connection to illegal fishing activities.

rine protected areas projects, and the implementation in Spain of international

policies on the conservation of marine habitats and species.

tion of the costs of implementing the Natura 2000 Network in the marine envi-

conservation. Since 1988, we have collaborated with WWF in the design and

ous national and international consulting projects on fisheries and the marine

environment; worth noting are the identification of a network of Marine Protect-

ed Areas in Spain, from which emerged the project Life + INDEMARES.

has carried out an analysis of 45 artisan fishing docks in Peru for the Vice-

ministry of Environment. As well, ProbitecProbitecProbitecProbitec has been part of several different pro-

posals prepared by Intecsa-Inarsa, among which we may note the sonar map-

ping of different coastal regions in the Mediterranean and Canary Islands.

ganisation dedicated to environmental conservation of the Central American

Integration System. The Commission is funded by different international donors

caria XXI in the Gulf of Fonseca, leading to the current project known as

“Corredor del Mangle” (Mangle Corridor).

collaborates in environmental projects both land based and marine based. In

ship owner associations in Spain. ProbitecProbitecProbitecProbitec has been an advisor to CEPESCA,

preparing competitiveness studies of the bottom trawling and longline fishing

fleets. Additionally, experimental fishing campaigns have been designed for as-

sociates of Cepesca.
