1. ABOUT THE COLLEGE :

Doranda College was established in the year 1962 as an affiliated unit of the Ranchi University and right from its inception, it stood as a symbol of excellence in its academic activities. By virtue of laurels of achievement, on and from April 1977, it became 3rd senior most constituent college of the University in the Capital city of the Jharkhand State.

2. COURSES IN THE COLLEGE :

The College has been imparting teaching upto Degree Hons level in all principal subjects of Humanities, Social Science, Physical Science and Commerce faculties. College was brought under the provision of the U.G.C. Act 1956 in accordance with the regulations framed under section 2 (f) since January, 1969 and it was accredited by NAAC, Bangalore, an Autonomous Body of UGC, New Delhi in March - 2005

3. SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE COLLEGE :

1. It is a Co-educational Institution.

2. Total No. of teaching staff is 55.

3. Most of the teachers are well qualified with Ph.D. degree and research Publications.

4. It is the only College situated on Main Road of the City which is easily accessible by Road, Railways & Air.

5. Provision of Remedial courses for students belonging to SC/ST&OBC category.

6. Vocational teaching in (OMSP) and (TTM) started in 1997 and 2001-2002 respectively whereas BBA, BCA and IT started in 2008, with financial assistance by U.G.C. - MBA, M.Com.

7. Following Vocational Courses are proposed and to be started in near future.

(a) Bachelor Degree in Hotel Management.

(b) Add-on Courses - Fashion Designing (FD) Rural Development, Computer Application etc..

8. The Department of Human Resource Development, Govt. of Jharkhand has sanctioned Rs. 2.19 Crore for construction of separate Science Block and Extention of Class Rooms and the construction works are in progress under the financial and administrative support and instruction. Doranda College is fastly heading towards the status of the city centre of excellence.

4. LOCATION :

The college is centrally located in Doranda area on the Main Road of the Capital City connecting

Ranchi main town on the one extreme and Aerodrome, HEC Complex, Vidhan Sabha and State

Secretariat on the another extreme. It is about 2 Kms. from Railway Station and almost equally distance

from Aerodrome. The area envelops Jharkhand High Court, Cabinet Secretariat, MECON, A. G. Office

and Several well reputed +2 level schools.



Recognition of B.Ed. Course by NCTEIn 2017 NCTE (ERC) granted recognition to Doranda College, Ranchi for starting B.Ed. course of two year duration from the academic session 2017-18 and onwards with an annual intake of 100 (one hundred) students vide letter no. F No. ER-237.6.39 (P-2)/ID-10534/B.Ed/2017/52430 dt. 20.4.2017 after "No Objection" by the Department of Human Resource Development, Government of Jharkhand .

Two Year's B.Ed. Course from 2017ERC, NCTE granted recognition for B.Ed. Course of two year's duration from 2017 with intake of two units each of 100 (Hundred) students as per NCTE 2014 Regulation. This B.Ed. course will run in the college campus of the college. As per NCTE 2014 Regulation the college has facilitated faculty & staff member and all required amenities/infrastructure under composite scheme.

It also includes special course for Enhancing Professional Capacities (EPC) of student teachers. The courses under the above mentioned areas are distributed semester wise as follows:

Candidates will be selected on the basis of entrance test. Candidates will be selected for admission in the subjects approved by NCTE under 2014 Regulation on the basis of Merit following Reservation & Roster Policy of State Government. Result of entrance test will be uploaded on the college website, for any type of enquiry candidates must go the college website.

Selection of candidates for admission shall be made on the basis of Entrance Test and scores allotted to the candidates in different examinations as per state Governments Guidelines. The weightage will also be allowed in respect of extra curricular activities viz. NCC / Sports for which the applicant will have to face a trial session conducted by Experts besides producing genuine certificate.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION :

Academic :

a. Science, Commerce,Arts, Engineering (with condition) Graduates & Post Graduates (in approved subjects only) may apply with College Leaving Certificate / Department Leaving Certificate.

b. The applicant should have obtained at least 45% marks in aggregate at the Bachelor's Degree Examination from a recognized University.

Medium of Instruction

The medium of instruction will be Hindi / English. Examination may be written in Hindi or English except in language subject.

How to Apply

Application Form & Prospectus can be procured from the college counter bank challan (OBC) of Rs.1000/- for General and BC I / BC II students and Rs.800/- for SC and ST students. Duly filled in forms with relevant documents as given below must be submitted personally or by post to the college concerned.

10. Physically Handicapped Certificate issued by the recognized authority.

11. Three recent colour photos (4x3 cms.).

12. One Self Addressed envelope with stamp for call letter.

13. Certificate of NCC (B/C) / Sports certificate (Only State or National level from recognized organization).

NOTE 1 : Sports certificates will be verified and approved by the Sports Committee of the College

NOTE 2 : After selection the applicant will have to produce all original certificates for verification at the time of admission in the College office. On doubt the Original documents of any applicant will be kept by the College till verification of its genuineness from concerned authorities. If any document will be found forged then the college administration will have full right to cancel the admission followed by F.I.R. lodged in Police Station against the applicant.



Rules and Regulations

1. A student admitted to B.Ed. Course in colleges must maintain an ethos of commitment to a professional programme. He/She is expected to behave in dignified manner in the college campus.

2. (a) According to Ranchi University and NCTE norms a trainee must attend 75% of all theory classes (including optional subjects)

(b) The trainees must attend all demonstration lasses during the course as well as his/her scheduled practice teaching classes during January/February practice teaching period. She is expected to teach in any school assigned to him/ her by the college.

3. Prior permission is required from the Principal/Prof, in-charge for any absence either from theory or practical classes and community life activities. Application for leave should be in writing.

4. No other commitments, such as competitive examination, computer course, private tuition, university examination should be undertaken during the regular college timings of classes and activities.

5. Every student is expected to make the best use of library books..

6. The trainees are expected to take proper care of the college property.

7. If a candidate wants to drop out from the course before the commencement of classes, she will receive refund of fee except admission fee. After the commencement of classes no refund of money will be made as per rule applicable at that time.

ANTI RAGGING RULES & UNDERTAKINGS :

1. Ban On Ragging

This College is reputed for excellent teaching and strict discipline. It has formed a Proctorial Board that looks after proper maintenance of discipline and leaves no scope for ragging.

Anybody found involved in any type of humiliating behaviour leading to ragging will be expelled from the college after the decision of the Proctorial Board. Besides, FIR will be lodged against those students who will be found exercising ragging and bullying on the campus or around the campus.

What is Ragging :

Any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in rowdy or harm or to raise fear or apprehension there of in a fresher or a junior student or asking the student to do any act or perform something which such student will not in the ordinary course and which has the effect of

causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment that adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student.

Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offence as established by the Proctorial Board of the college, the possible punishment for those found guilty of ragging at the institution level shall be any one or any combination of the following :

Punishment at the Institution level for Ragging :

(i) Cancellation of admission

(ii) Suspension from attending classes

(iii) Withholding/Withdrawing scholarship/fellowship & other benefits.

(iv) Debarring from appearing in any test examination or other evaluation process

(v) Withholding results.

(vi) Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival etc.

(vii) Suspension / expulsion from the hostel.

(viii) Rustication from the institution for period ranging 6 months.

(ix) Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from the admission to any other institution.

(x) Fine of Rs. 25,000/- to Rs. 1 Lakh.

(xi) Collective punishment : When the persons committing or abetting the crime of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment as a deterrant to ensure community pressure on the potential raggers.
