Each individual donor helps to change the future of medicine. Below are just a few areas in which Science Care donors make contributions to medical advances:

How Does the Process Work?• Begins with a short phone call

for medical screening, toll free

• If under hospice care this can be done ahead of time, ask about the HOPE Program

• We will coordinate obtaining consent forms

The HOPE Program• Complete the pre-assessment

call prior to passing

• Upon acceptance, patient is guaranteed for 1 year

• Makes the call to Science Care at time of passing much easier for the family, shorter

After Donation• Tissue is procured and utilized for

medical research and training

• The tissue not utilized is cremated and returned in 3-5 weeks

• Following donation we send a letter to the family with details about current research projects

• One year after donation, the family receives a certificate that a tree has been planted in honor of the donor through our partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation

Common QuestionsWill I qualify?

• Most all will qualify even those with cancer, heart disease, diabetes or Alzheimer’s disease

• The main rule outs are contagious disease and extreme obesity

• A quick 5 minute call will determine acceptance

• Upon acceptance there is NO COST

• Includes transportation from location of passing, cremation, return of cremated remains and filing of the death certificate

Common QuestionsDo I need to join the registry?

• No. Pre-registration is not required.

• Pre-registration is a nice way to make your wishes known to your family so they may carry them out.

Common QuestionsWill donating prevent funeral arrangements?

• No, memorialization is important in the grieving process.

• Your family may arrange a memorial event immediately without the remains or in 3-5 weeks after the return of remains.

Common QuestionsDoes the program work in my state?

• We can facilitate donation from nearly all states. Except MN and NJ due to state laws.

• Donations from outside the U.S. are currently

prohibited.

Common QuestionsIs there an age limit?

• No. In fact our oldest donor was 104 years young! Nearly everyone can contribute to helping future generations through body donation.

How Does this Help My Patients?

Body donation is a great way for your patients to leave a lasting legacy for

others and relieve some of the financial burden on surviving family members.

If you are a hospice, hospital or care home employee we can arrange for an in-person education presentation to your staff
