Hay un hombre que se llama

Don Quijote de la Mancha. Don

Quijote es un hombre alto y

delgado. Tiene más de cincuenta

años. Tiene un caballo viejo que

se llama Rocinante. Don Quijote

piensa que el caballo es fuerte,

joven y magnífico, pero no lo es.

Le gusta leer muchos libros de

caballeros. Le fascina la

caballerosidad. Lee novelas día y

noche. Lee tantos libros que se

vuelve un poco loco. Piensa que

es un caballero.

Tiene una sobrina que se

llama Antonia. La sobrina está

muy preocupada porque su tío se

ha vuelto loco. Él quiere ir en

Don Quijote y Sancho Panzatuvieron muchas aventuras. Perocuando Don Quijote regresó acasa, se puso muy triste. Se diocuenta de que sus aventuraseran imaginarias. Se dio cuentade que en realidad vivía en laMancha como un hombre normaly viejo. Se puso enfermo y fue ala cama. Sancho visitó a DonQuijote. Caminó lentamente a sucama. Se sentó cerca de él. Lehabló de Dulcinea:

—¡Recuerde a Dulcinea, miseñor!

Pero Don Quijote se puso másenfermo.

Entonces Sancho le habló de

las aventuras:—¡Recuerde nuestras

aventuras con gigantes encantados, mi señor!

No quería que Don Quijote se muriera. Agarró su mano.Miró sus ojos.

—¡Por favor, no se muera, mi señor!

Pero Don Quijote perdió la fe. Se dio cuentade que todo era unailusión. Se dio cuenta deque Dulcinea nunca ex-istió y que él nunca fueun caballero. <<Todo fueun sueño>>, pensó. En-tonces se puso muytriste y anunció:

—Ya no me llamo DonQuijote de la Mancha. Ahora me llamo AlonsoQuijano.
