The Educational Plant Tour of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University was on

November 23 2! 2"#$% The educational tour has the followin& ob'ectives(

)% To *ave way in develo*in& and u*liftin& the educational awareness of the &raduatin&

en&ineerin& students with re&ards to the actual o*eration and maintenance of e+istin&

*ower *lants and *roduction *lants in the Phili**ines%,% To have an actual view and to learn the different *rocesses and sources involved in

the *roduction of *ower and ener&y in a *ower *lant%-% To u*&rade the .nowled&e of students in mechanical en&ineerin& conce*ts%

The *lant tour s*ecifically wants the students not only to learn the theories about *ower

and industrial *lants! but also wants students to see the actual e/ui*ments and machineries used

in the *lants% Students can also learn how the machineries wor. and it will u*&rade their

.nowled&e about mechanical en&ineerin& conce*ts% The students can be more aware about when

they will have their own 'ob because of the e+*erience in the *lant tour%

0hen the students will a**ly a 'ob in the *ower *lants in the future! they .now some

*rocesses involved in the *ower *lant and that is an advanta&e when the interview comes% They

have advanta&e because of the e+*erience seein& the machineries wor. actually in the *lant%

The students can also as. /uestions in the mechanical en&ineers wor.in& in the *ower

*lant if they are confused about somethin& re&ardin& in its o*eration and that will &ive way to

students to have more .nowled&e% The en&ineers can also teach students more conce*ts and

theories that is not included in the syllabus in the school% The students can also .now the future

em*loyment in the industrial and *ower *lants and will have more o*tions re&ardin& future

em*loyment% They can decide if they will a**ly in a certain *lant after seein& its o*eration !

*rocesses ! e/ui*ment! etc%

That is a bi& hel* for the mechanical en&ineerin& students in DMMMSU M1U-% They

will have more ideas about mechanical en&ineerin& and the o*eration of *ower *lants%

t was November 22! 2"#$% 0e have an am4*m Sunday class% 5ur instructor .nows

that we have an educational tour comin& u* and he dismissed us early to *re*are for the $4day

and 64ni&ht tour% t was about 7*m when some students arrive in the school to have a comfortable

seat in the bus! thou&h the de*arture for Tarlac -ity is at 3am% More students arrive before

midni&ht and it was almost com*lete moments after midni&ht%

0e have 2 buses and a van *re*ared for the *lant tour% The instructors chec.ed us all

before de*arture% The de*arture time was at 3am% The 88TM travel tours that is in char&e for the

travel tours was very thou&htful to us students% They as. us if there is somethin& wron& with us

and told us stories and have &ames so that we will not be bored durin& the tri*%

)t $(3" am! we arrive at Tarlac for the brea.fast at 9ollibee% 0e waited a little moment

before havin& a brea.fast% The brea.fast &ave us stren&th for the whole day%

for the first itinerary at Tarlac Power -or*oration%

The *hoto above is the students near the *um*s that *um*s the fuel! lubricatin& oil to

their indicated day tan.s%

)fter the tour! the en&ineers in the *lant led us to the control room of the *lant and

discussed the o*eration of the machineries of the *lant% n there! we have received a snac. from

the *eo*le in the *ower *lant as bein& &rateful for choosin& them one of the *ower *lant to visit

in the educational tour% The snac. was a tetra *ac. 'uice and a biscuit% )fter the snac.! we went

bac. to our res*ective and &et ready for the de*arture for Subic%

5verall! the tour in the Tarlac Power -or*oration was &ood% learned a lot about

the o*eration of a diesel *ower *lant and how it wor.s% saw the e/ui*ment used in the *lant

actually li.e the coolin& towers! day tan.s! *um*s! etc% My su&&estion is that they should have

more tour &uides durin& the tour because in the tour! some of the students didn:t hear what the

en&ineer is tellin& because the ratio of the tour &uide to student is hi&h% That must be #($ ratio so

that the students can hear *ro*erly what the en&ineer is tal.in& about% ho*e that they must do

that ne+t time to the students that will be havin& *lant tour on the *lant% ,ut overall! the tour was

&ood for me%

0hen we arrived at the Subic! we went strai&ht to -how.in& for the lunch% t is almost

2("" *m and most of the students were hun&ry for lunch% 0hen we arrived in the -how.in&! we

didn:t wait and eat lunch% The lunch was su*erb and we were than.ful to -how.in& for the &reat

lunch% 0e rest

the lunch%

souvenirs li.e .eychains because there are some vendors that are sellin& souvenirs% )fter that! we

went to the ne+t destination% That would be 5ne Subic Power Plant%

The travel from Subic to 5ne Subic Power Plant was a little more than an hour% 0e

arrived in the *lant before 6 o:cloc. in the afternoon%
