The Domaine

Domaine Fabrice VIGOT was born on 1  st  January, 1990, taking over part ofthe vineyard run by Madame Roland Vigot: 4 ha in the communes of Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges, then expands with purchase some plots ofNuits-Saint-Georges and Bourgogne rouge in 1993. Late 1996 Fabrice married Christine Martin daughter of Bernard Martin(Domaine Bernard Martin).  The domain changes its title and becomes theDomaine VIGOT Fabrice. The year 2000 saw the arrival of a new appellation in the area: Gevrey-Chambertin. Today the area has 7 ha located on 6 appellations and 15 different climates.

The Vines The entire estate is cultivated naturally: manuring is organic, pesticidesare prohibited, sexual confusion has been practiced on 70% of theplots for the past fifteen years. Tillage has replaced chemical weedingsince 1993. The only treatments applied to the vine are to protect itagainst downy mildew with copper sulphate and against powderymildew with sulfur.  The major reference here is not the domain, thebrand or the grape variety but the terroir which, since the origin ofBurgundy wine, gives each vintage its historical, real and sustainableidentity.

Climates What is called the climate: a strictly delimiteddistrict of land, recognized for its qualities, bearingits name for centuries and comprising one or morelocalities.Each climate produces its own appellationwine, sometimes in a monopoly but often sharedby several domains. It is the very idea of the terroir,the most direct and sincere link between the vineand the wine.Our domain works on 15 climatesdivided into 5 appellations.

The maceration takes place in stainless steel tanks.The natural yeastspresent on the skin of the grapes will ensure fermentation.  Thecontrolled temperature, the aeration of the must and the brewing ofthe marc will contribute to the success of the vintage. Twenty days will be necessary to obtain a good aging wine. The new vat room was built for the 2006 harvest.

GEVREY CHAMBERTINThe estate has been vinifying since 2000 in the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation, vines from a place called"Pressonnier", joined in early 2007 by vines in a place called"Les Etelois", in 2011 at a place called "Les Billards", and on theplace called "Les Craix".The latter benefit from a bettersituation and poorer and stony soil, further improving thequality of the assembly.

NUITS-SAINT-GEORGESOur Nuits-Saint-Georges comes from old vines located inthree localities: Les Herbeux Les Tuyaux & Les Bas de Combe.They are larger than the neighboring fields and longer thanwide. Could it be because it pulls well in length that a field atSaint-Aubin has been called Champ Tirant , and at Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Tuyaux.

ECHEZEAUXLes Echezeaux is one of the Grands Crus located in thecommune of Vosne-Romanée. .Our wines come from theRouges du Bas plot.. Many localities date from the Gallo-Roman era.  These are mainly words formed on the LatinCASELLUM, CASALIS (high secondary housing on a domainand by extension group of constructions), that we meet:  AuxCheusots  à Fixin ("cheusots" for "chezaux" plural of "chesal"derived word from the Latin CASALIS).

Vosne-Romanée

LA COLOMBIÈREThe local Lord bred pigeons at Vosne-Romanée at a placecalled  La Colombière  and perhaps hawks at Morey-Saint-Denis at a place called  Les Faconnières  .  We know that thedovecotes and molds were the privileges of the lords who,possessing a large area of land, could breed pigeons andhawks.

LES CHALANDINSThe generic Vosne-Romanée from the estate mainly comesfrom a place called Les Chalandins, located north of the townof Vosne-Romanée, in the direction of Vougeot..It is possible tosay, in fact, that the localities which at present presentthemselves without an article, are very old: thus, In Remilly , inGamay.

ECHEZEAUX 2016

On the nose, astonishing notes of violet, blackberry, cherry with a hint of spices. Rich,smooth and fleshy, this wine is coherent with the solar 2015 vintage.  The wine iswide in the mouth and the finale is a bit more serious. - Guide Hachette 2019

The area of the estate in the appellation covers almost 80 ares for anaverage age of the vines of fifty-five years.  In the glass, a cuvée whichcombines a beautiful substance, roundness, but also the power of the 2015vintage. The whole gives a bottle already pleasant today, where greedinessis in the spotlight, but which will also age well. - Guide Hachette 2019

"With only beautiful grapes" explains Fabrice Vigot about his method ofwinemaking.  The 2016 vintage has indeed spoiled the winegrowers.  Thisplot of 59 ares, the region's only grand cru, produced a wine with notes ofblackberries, blackcurrant and sweet spices, on the palate solidly structuredby vigorous tannins. A great vintage for the future. - Guide Hachette 2019
