In troduction ToDomain F lipp ingBuying and selling domain names can be an exceptionally lucrative venture

to get into, however if you are starting off with very little cash flow, it'salways best to purchase lower cost domains and generate small profits asyou work your way up to larger flips. One of the great aspects of domain flipping is that the efforts required areminimal. No longer must you locate or integrate content, tweak websitepages, outsource tasks, or transferwebsites. All you need to do is findmemorable, appealing domain names inniche markets and sell them to buyers, eager to create their own website onthis domain.Furthermore, the risks are quite low asare the investment costs, and once youhave set up your system so that you are generating daily profits, it willrequire no more than one hour a day to keep the cash flow going. It's not a difficult business to get into, if you follow my simple formula tobuying and selling domain names. Many of my partners and friends areearning $500 - $2,500 per week from flipping low cost domain names, whileothers have gone to secure high value domain names that are generatingthem revenue even before they are resold.

How To Find HighPayout DomainsHow would you like to know before you even register a domain if it's going

to be a big seller -- or not? That way you can rest assured you're investingin potential winners instead of wasting money on losers. You can virtually guarantee you will make money from any domain simplyby making sure the domain will be in demand. And how do you do that? With Google's Keyword Research Tool of course!Google's Keyword Research Tool is like a metal detector for finding thebest domain names. You can enter single keyword, see the most popularsearch phrases for that keyword, see the number of Global MonthlySearches (big profit indicator) and instantly find out whether or not thatdomain has any built-in "flip value".

Build ing A P ro fitab lePortfolioThink about some of the Internet's most popular websites like Twitter.com,

Facebook.com or FeedBurner.com whose domains are off the beaten pathbut definitely memorable, which is one of the best important elements of adomain names profitability. This comes down to the niche markets youhave some intrinsic knowledge of and fromwhich you can begin generating someideas. You should take a bit of time tostart keeping a list of keywords in atext file so that you can copy and pasteinto the OrderYourName.com bulk searchtool (more on that soon).Creating a keyword swipe file is an ongoing job, and one that you shouldconcentrate a lot of effort on, as the more prime keywords you enter intothe software, the better your chances of finding true gems.Apart from targeted keywords, you should also consider thinking outsidethe box a bit, by drumming up a list of memorable keywords that whenadded to a domain can be used for branding purposes. Once you havesorted through your lists, it's time to run the remaining domains through abulk domain registration tool, to determine what domains are still available,as others downloading these lists may have scooped up a few already. So once you have used the Google Keyword Tool to generate a solid list ofhigh-search volume domain names, it's time to follow the advice of manywho have garnered wealth in the domain industry for many years throughproper and careful selection.

Keyword Tool any available extension can make for a highly-coveteddomain name with equally high resale value. In fact, you will be surprised how many high-traffic search phrases can besuccessfully converted "long tail" domain names. By that I mean yourdomains should consist of the actual search words, separated (or not) bydashes such as: "this-is-an-example.com".Do you need to use dashes to separate words? You used to, but Googlehas changed the rules again, and its search algorithms have become moresophisticated in that Google can now isolate keywords from very longdomain names -- even without hyphens to "visually" separate the words. When you are first starting out, you should set aside $50.00 and try toregister 5 domain names to start your portfolio. I typically register a handfulof domain names every week; I never go overboard unless I happen tostumble upon a great list or a good deal.It will not take long before you have the business paying for itself entirely, including higher priced domain names that you will eventually register andflip (which you will learn how to do soon).

'The Value of AgedDomainsDomains that have been registered and never dropped (expired) are called

"Aged Domains". For instance, one domain name I purchased was neverused, meaning it had never featured a website on it, it just sat parked in theusers account for over six years. For buyers who are looking for aged domains, it can help them developmore business credibility and trust. Why? Because if the domain has beenaround for years, it appears that they have as well.So simply put: Old domains typically sellfor more than new ones do because theyhave been around. I have purchaseddozens of domain names for $40 orless that were anywhere from 5 -10 years old. Just based on the agealone I was able to flip these domainnames for over 1OOxwhat I paid. JWhen you search for domains at OrderYourName.com, you will comeacross a few aged domains for sale and the system will tell you if the buyeris thinking about letting it go -- and you can make an offer.Aged domains can also be found on sites like Flippa.com and simply bytyping in the keywords "Aged Domains" into the search bar you can easilylocate domain auctions that include these older domain names.

IIProfit F ormula"While there is no exact science as to what type of domain names willultimately be worth the most, apart from the obvious short and memorabledomain names, there are a few things to keep in mind:1) Development PotentialWhen you analyze the available domains in your list, consider what eachdomain name could represent and be used for when creating a websitepresence. While the purpose of the domain name will unlikely match yourideas when it is sold, by thinking of a clearpurpose for each domain name will notonly help you make sound choices durl ngthe selection process, but can also beincluded in the domain auction, as away of passing on the ideas toprospective buyers who are consideringpurchase. An example of which iswhether the domain name is one thatcould represent a well known product, a social community, a video site, apopular service, a medical procedure, a directory or even a "great idea" fora non-existent, but probable product or service.

    j

    2) LengthIt can not be said enough, that the length of a domain name, apart from theodd occurrence where you locate a lengthy domain name that still carrieswith it, a memorable element, most of the domain names you purchaseshould be relatively short, basically consisting of two words.3) Trademark Issues

Domain Flipping Secrets Exposed! 10 of 27

  • 8/4/2019 Domain Flipping Secrets eBook

    11/27

Avoid registering any domain names that could infringe upon the trademarkof existing companies, whether or not you believe that the company willtake action or not should not be considered. The last thing you want is topurchase a domain name that is unable to be sold due to buyers beingcautious or concerned of building a website on a domain that ends upbeing seized by a company wishing to protect their identity.4) Relevant / Popular KeywordsDoes the domain name contain popular keywords that are used by thoseseeking out more information in search engines? If so, your domain namejust increased its value instantly.

    5) Existing TrafficIf you are purchasing aged or recently expired domains, you will want todetermine whether there is existing traffic to the website or not, thusincreasing it's value immensely. Organic, natural traffic sent directly from searchengines is the best kind, however backlinks from other websites are also veryimportant to potential buyers. An easy way to determine the number offbacklinks as well as page rank and other important information is by visitingYahoo Site Explorer where you can enter in domain names and retrieverelated backlinks and referring sites. The higher the page rank, the moreexisting backlinks, the more profitable the domain will be.

    6) Spelling and PronunciationIs the domain name easy to say aloud? If your customer were to purchasethe domain and build a business with this name, would they be able toeasily brand it?

    12/27

For example, domain names with double letters such aswww.cashhour.com may often be mistaken for www.cashour.com, just thesame, domains with odd spellings, hyphens or numbers would have to beclearly spelled out, or explained when someone is attempting to promotetheir website through word of mouth, rather than in print.Consider this when registering domain names, and make sure that thenames you choose will not be mistaken or misspelled by potentialcustomers of yours, as well as the person who ultimately purchases it fromyou, otherwise it will experience a significant loss in perceived value.7) Targeting The Buyer's Mindset & Current TrendsWhen choosing your domain names, there will be many factors that comeinto play. The type of buyer you are catering to, the auction sites you arefeaturing them on, current popular trends to piggy-pack on, the price rangeyou are expecting and so on.There is no one way to do this, and you will learn to become a betterdomain evaluator (and purchaser) from hands on experience. Using theguidelines above however, will help you maximize your efforts andminimize your costs (and losses).

"Using Flippa To SellYour Domains"It's time to set up your domain names on Flippa.com! If you are new to

Flippa, you should take some time to read their website and get to knowhow their auctions work, aswell as the applicable fees .. 10 Cj: l + ...~=,.,~'--'-".~~~-""~'~.2".'~""t~.......------...

You can lose a lot of moneybuying into the bells &whistles so avoid purchasing any add-ons when you list your domainnames. You do not need a featured listing, a highlighted auction title, or anyof that stuff.

and listing options. Thereare other auction sites likeforums.digital point.com.WebmasterMarketplaceand SlteSeal.orq. but Flippais arguably the best placeto sell sites, but it's notfree ...

Your "trust rating" is very important with anything you sell on Flippa, whether it's a single domain name or a full-fledged business for sale.People judge you based on the feedback you have received so if you haveany negative feedback, I would suggest creating a new Flippa account. If you are brand new to Flippa, there is little you can do to generate positivefeedback quickly, other than to ensure that you follow through with yourauctions, keep open communication with your buyers and be prompt whenpushing your domain names after they have been purchased. Never makethem wait more than 24 hours for their domain.Domain Flipping Secrets Exposed! 15 of 27

    16/27

When creating a Flippa account, choose a relevant username. Don't try tobe trendy and pick some crazy sounding username, choose onespecifically for domain and/or site flipping. Something like DomainExpertsor DomainTrends would be just fine. If you end up not liking what youchose you can change it every 30 days.Alternatively you might also want to open an Escrow.com account if you'redealing in the thousands of dollars. It's an extra layer of protection for bothyou and the buyer. (You can use it to buy and sell anything imaginable fromdomains to cars.)When you list your auctions on Flippa, youshould start them all off at $1. Do notplace a reserve on these auctions, anddo not add any restrictions orlimitations of any kind. Just set themup individually, and list them at $10 eachto start. For beginners the idea of paying$8 for a domain name and listing it at $10is nerve wracking however with a lowerstart-up price, you will entice more bidders to participate and your auctionwill boost up in price quickly.Once people become attached to the domain, they will create a bidding waragainst any other user who tries to take it away from them and you will seeyour auction soar as it gets closer to the end of the time, so don't be toonervous about losing money.Tip: If you have paid more than the basic registration of a domain name, meaning that you have purchased a domain name for more than $15,depending on what you paid for the domain you may want to start theauction off on a higher amount, just be aware that the lower the start upbid, the more activity it will receive.Whenever you see one of these, list as many domains as you can andsave yourself a bundle in listing fees. I also do not recommend that youDomain Flipping Secrets Exposed! 16 of 27

feature a BIN (Buy It Now) price either, as you may end up short-changingyourself if you list the BIN at a lower price than others are willing to pay. Letthe auction determine its own price and run its course. When selling your domain names on Flippa, always choose a relevantcategory. Also be sure to include a direct headline to your auction listing, which describes the domain name you are featuring. Include the domainname in full within your auction title (example: www.Domain.com not justdomain.com)

Within your listing you will be asked to enterin additional information including the Type (which is Domain Names), theextension (.com) and a brief description.

And most importantly, ALWAYS include adomain "idea" in the title, something that canprovoke thought, stoke the imagination, and get potential buyers to consider thevarious options that are available to themwhen using the domain name. For example:"BusinessLinks.com: The Next Up andComing Business Directory".

Always include the domain registrar, the age (unless it's brand new than donot include it), and utilize the free option to include a gallery picture justbecause research has shown that auctions showcasing a photo of any kindwill receive more attention. (For pictures, you could search for domainrelated images on public domain sites or purchase a couple from a stockphoto site such as www.DreamsTime.com)When creating the body text of your listing, you want to provide as manyideas for possible use as you can, as well as giving them as muchinformation relating to the auction as possible such as:Payments Accepted and your terms (Payment is due within two days ofauction, etc) Transfer Time - How quickly you can push the domain over

after payment is received, (I always include "Transfer Within 24 Hours OfPayment Receipt")I also add links to any other domain auctions that you currently have going. This is very important and it's a great way to inter-link your auctions andencourage multiple purchases fromyour buyers since they canpurchase as many as they likeand pay all at once with the Fllppacheckout system. The link to yourother auctions is available under"Sellers Other Items". Just right clickand choose "Copy Link" and create a new link in your listing that links toone another. This takes time but it s definitely worthwhile! Also be sure to include how long the domain is registered for, so buyerscan determine how soon they will be required to renew it.There are a lot of buyers who will not purchase a domain name that is dueto expire within two months, so if you have just registered the domainname, then be sure to emphasize the fact that it is only expiring in a yearstime. When listing your auction you can choose the time frame in which it willremain active. I typically choose a 7 or 10 day auction plan.Be sure that you are available on the day that your auction ends and thatyou answer any questions that you receive during the course of yourauction (and you can expect a handful).

Also be sure to include contact information, a gmail account will suffice andis easy to manage.Once again, choose an email address that relates to the domain industry, but avoid "domain flipping", "domain flipper" or terms like that. Forexample: BestDomains@Gmail,com or GreatDomains@gmail,com will give

    19/27

a better impression to your potential buyers and will simply look moreprofessional. When someone purchases a domain from you, depending onthe registrar that you use, you may be required to obtain specificinformation from your buyer in order to push the domain into their account.Simply create an email draft within your gmail account that thanks yourbuyer for their purchase and requests the information that you need. Bydoing this, you can simply copy and paste that email to each buyer after asuccessful sale and let them follow up with their information.I would also recommend not accepting echecks from Paypal as they taketime to clear and will delay the process and cause more work on your endby having to remember to check when it has cleared, etc. And finally, besure that your buyers pay you BEFORE you push the domain to them. Thismight be obvious to you but it needs to be said, as I have talked to manynew domain flippers who push the domain immediately only to neverreceive payment. Once the domain is pushed over it's not always easy toget it back. The most activity that will take place within your auction is during the lasthour that it's available. This is when the bidding wars start to happen andpeople attempt to outbid each other or snag it at the last minute. Becauseof this, you want to pay close attention as to when your auction will end.The problem weekends is that they tend to be slower in general, and onFlippa, I have also experienced fewer bids and less activity if my auctionended on either Friday night, Saturday orSunday. My suggestion is to make sure thatyour auction will end on a weekday, anyweekday will do. I tend to use the 7 dayauction plan and list on Mondaysregularly, so I keep a schedule androutine going that is easy to follow (andremember).Another important thing to remember is theDomain Flipping Secrets Exposed! 19 of 27

    20/27

times that your auctions will end in between one another. For example, if Ilist two auctions on Monday and it takes me ten minutes in between listingthem, they will expire ten minutes apart. This isn't always wise because ifyou have one buyer interested in both auctions they may not have the timeto focus on bidding on both. Therefore, I suggest timing your auctions 30-90 minutes apart, meaning;create one ... go for a short break ... come back and list the second and soon.

Incubating YourDomainsThere are two schools of thought when it comes to domain flipping, and

which school you belong to really depends on your objectives ...The first school of thought says: You can make a lot of money just buybuying and selling domains on the fly."Hunt them. Find them. Sell them.Check please!"The second school of thoughtsays: You can make even MOREmoney by "incubating " yourdomain. It takes longer, but yourpayoff is magnified a thousandfoldl. When you buy a domain, you should not just park it and let it sit until you'reready to sell it! You need to incubate it. Incubating means making thedomain LIVE, complete with hosting and basic design so that it can startgenerating traffic, backlinks, and an online reputation -- then when it comestime to flip the domain, you're able to sell it for much, much more than youcould if you had simply parked the domain and waited for a seller. The prospect of turning a site "on" may be daunting to some, eitherbecause you have the expense of hosting or because building a siterepresents a lot of time -- but nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, incubating a domain is a lot easier than you think. And it won't cost you acent since every domain you purchase from OrderYourName.com comeswith free hosting.

Domain Incubation Steps In A NutshellWe're going to setup your hosting, then install Word Press and a few freeplugins. The final result is an automated website (an "autoblog") which willmake blog posts -- automatically, every day, and without much attentionfrom you. These posts get picked up by Google, Yahoo, and other majorsearch engines in addition to some other blogs in the form of pingbacks. Allof these things give you domain more value so you can sell it for more!So with that being said, here's the beauty of how easy it really is. Followthese steps for each and every domain name you buy:1.) Setup your free hosting. Just login to your OrderYourName.com clientcontrol panel and click on "My Products" on the left hand side. Then clickon "Free Products". Wait for the screen to load then click on HostingAccounts. Again, wait for the screen to load then click on the "ACTIVATEYOUR FREE ACCOUNT" and setup your hosting. You can choose betweenWindows or Linux hosting (I recommendLinux). The primary benefit of using free hostlnq lsthat the free hosting system will(generally) set up your accounts on amixed array of IP addresses, providingyou don't set them up all at once. So if youare setting up multiple domains activatetheir hosting accounts 6 to 12 hours apartfrom each other to increase the likelihood that each account will be setupon a unique IP.By the way, if you don't want to use the free ad-supported hosting, you canupgrade to a paid unlimited hosting account just a couple bucks per month-- you know this is a bargain if you have shopped around.2.) Install Word Press. There are two ways to do this: You can use the FreeApplication installer (in your hosting control panel) or you can do itDomain Flipping Secrets Exposed! 22 of 27

manually. The default Word Press theme is fine. It's not very fancy, but forour purposes it will work.3.) Install the following free plugins: AII-In-One SEO pack, Google SitemapGenerator, Delete Duplicate Posts, CommentLuv, Google Analytics, andmost importantly WP Article Fetch (http://www.wparticlefetch.com).Additionally, you may also want to install WP Unique (you'll have to buy thisone; it's not free, but you can use it on as many blogs as you like, so it's agood investment http://www.wpunique.com).4.) Set WP Article Fetch. Set the plugin's timer to generate a new-postevery 6 hours (4 posts per day). At the end of a month, you'll have roughly120 blog posts -- on complete autopilot. Nice, huh?5.) Open a paid OnlyWire account. Go to http://www.OnlyWire.com. You willuse this account for all of your domains/blogs select a generic usernamewhen you register. OnlyWire is a really great service that submits/bookmarks your blog posts to 30+ social sites. You can get 30 automaticbacklinks every single time you use OnlyWire to bookmark one of yourposts. So every single day go to your domain/blog and bookmark one ofyour posts. Remember: 8acklinks = More Valuable Domain = MOREPROFIT FOR YOU.You're done! The entire incubation process iscompletely automated (except for the dailyOnlyWire submissions which takes about 10seconds of your time.) I have been able to take adomain with 0 PR (PageRank) and within1-2 months bump it up to PR1 with 2,000+backlinks , and within a year I have been able toboost the PR to 5 with over 50,000 backlinks, simply by using this automated incubationtechnique. It's well worth it!TIP: You might also want to sign up for a free Google AdSense account andinsert AdSense into your autoblog (I recommend using the Easy AdsenseDomain Flipping Secrets Exposed! 23 of 27

plugin). This step is strictly optional and won't increase your PR orbacklinks, but it *can* generate a few cents up to a few dollars worth ofincome every day. If you are incubating hundreds of domains each year likeI am, the money can really ad up. I've been able to make an extra $500-$700 month while my domains are incubating. The AdSense history alsoadds a little bit of value to the domain itself when it comes time to flipbecause you have a documented AdSense earnings you can show for thatdomain.

Domain RegistrarsAn important thing to keep in mind is that with many registrars, you are notpermitted to transfer domain names to a buyer for 60 days after the domainhas been registered (by you). This is due to the ICANN rules which allaccredited registrars must adhere to. This could put a snag in your plans ifyou just bought a domain and you need to flip it within 60 days. But I have some good news. There's a wayto get around that ICANN rule by using"pushing". Pushing is different fromtransferring. When you push a domainwhat you are really doing is handingover ownership/control of the domain toanother party without the expense of payingfor a domain transfer ("transferring" extends the domain's life by 1 yearwhile "pushing" simply allows the new owner to use up the existing time onthe domain until he/she renews it.)In the case of OrderYourName.com, you are allowed to "push" domains toyour buyers instantly. Simple have your buyer open anOrderYourName.com account. Then from within your account, access yourDomain Manager and push the domain to the new owner's account. Thatdomain will then show up as a "pending" domain within the new owner'sDomain Manager. All he/she has to do is accept/approve it. It's a simple, easy, and free way to move domains from one party to another withoutpaying for a domain transfer.Of course you can register domains with any domain registration companyyou want, but I use and recommend OrderYourName.com because theyhave been in business a long, long time -- even longer than GoDaddy. Ifyou're not going to use OrderYourName.com, then be careful whenpurchasing domain names from other places. Not all registrars are ICANNaccredited and some unscrupulous sellers will resell domains after theyDomain Flipping Secrets Exposed! 25 of 27
