Kennel Divider Update

The order has been placed!

Everyone has been anxious to get the kennel dividers up. These dividers will block the dogs from seeing their “neighbors” and help keep our pups calmer and less stressed during their stay at the shelter.

We will need help installing the new dividers.

Please keep on the lookout for a meetup event to help get these dividers up!

Thanks to everyone who donated and made this possible!

An easy and effective

way to give the dogs a tasty treat and

something fun to do!

Founded by the Camden County Board of Chosen Freeholders in 1997, the Camden County Animal Shelter (CCAS) has been fighting to reduce the overwhelming stray/unwanted animal population in its county. CCAS is an open admissions shelter and takes in over 6,000 companion animals from 17 municipalities in Camden County every year. In 2004, the Animal Welfare Society of Camden County, which currently runs the Camden County Animal Shelter, took over the shelter's activities. CCAS now does three major things: provide shelter for stray/unwanted animals, find those animals

loving homes, and provide low-cost spay/neuter services.

Wish List CCAS runs off of donations. We are very

grateful for all the donations we receive. Here are a few things we need to get us through the

winter!

Meaty Bones & Treats Meaty dog bones and treats are a great way to keep our dogs busy and pre-occupied during their time in the shelter. The shelter can be very noisy but with meaty treats the dogs settle right down and are given something fun to do! Strong smelling treats like Pupperoni, Jerky Chews and Beggin Strips are their favorites!

Dry & Wet Dog & Cat Food Dry and wet dog and cat food is always a need at the shelter. Donations are what keep the shelter running and our dogs fed! Any and all food donations are greatly appreciated.

Peanut Butter We are working hard to provide Kongs to the dogs twice a week to keep them busy and stimulated in their cages. Many volunteers have stepped up to the challenge and have been diligently working to fill dozens of Kongs with peanut butter. Peanut Butter donations would greatly help our wonderful volunteers!

3 48x36 inch White Boards We are currently looking to replace the dog walking boards outside our kennels with bigger, newer boards, which will help us ensure more dogs are walked and socialized. We are looking for boards that measure 48x36 inches. If you have one sitting at home gathering dust or would like to donate one, please let us know or drop it off at the shelter.

Dogs of the Month Charlot Hi, I’m Charlot! I’m a wonderful 2 year pit mix. Some volunteers call me “peanut” because I’m a gentle little girl! I like other dogs and would be great with kids of any age. All I really want to do is cuddle up with someone. Come meet me today!

Seahawk Hi, I'm Seahawk! I am about 3 years old and weigh 60 pounds. I am one handsome, solid dog. I am a great mix of personality... I am active when you want to be but a couch potato when you want to be too. I like other dogs and wouldn't mind having a new buddy to hang out with. I'd do well with kids 10+ due to my size. Come meet me today!

Dino Hi, Im Dino! I am a 11-12 month old puppy and weigh 62 pounds. I am a pretty cool dude who just likes to chill and cuddle with you on the couch. I am very playful and like to play ball and love squeaky toys. I like all other dogs and would like a playmate in a new home but could also be a only child as long as I was spoiled and got lots of attention.

Rogue Meet Rogue! She is about 3 years old and weighs 60 pounds. Rogue is a sweet girl who would love to lay on the couch watching a movie, or outside playing. She’s a good mix of playful and calm... and loves her toys. She would do well with older children due to her size and she is great with other dogs!

Did you know that in 6 years, one female dog and her offspring can give birth to 67,000 puppies? In 7 years, a single female cat and her young can produce 420,000 kittens! Because of all this overpopulation, between four million and six million pets are euthanized every year and only one in 10 animals born in the U.S. gets a good home that lasts a lifetime.

The Camden County Animal Shelter has a goal of a no-kill county. This can only be achieved through massive spay/neuter efforts. CCAS is doing our part by offering low cost services to the public in the form of spay/neuter, vaccinations, and medical services. We need you to do your part. Talk to friends, family, and coworkers about the importance of spay/neutering! Call (856) 401-1300 to set up an appointment or for more information.

Volunteer of the Month

Priti Patnayakuni

Growing up I have always loved animals and I always told myself that one day I was going to work with animals. Then one day when I was watching TV, one of those depressing animal shelter commercials came on that broke my heart and I decided I was going to do something about it so I looked up places to volunteer on my days off. I came upon CCAS and I stopped by and inquired about volunteering. Ever since then I have become a volunteer. I wanted to help find the animals good homes as well as provide love, attention and comfort to the neglected animals. I wanted to make a difference in the animal’s life and I hope that by volunteering I succeeded to do so. Volunteering at CCAS has been a rewarding experience for me. Not only do I get to give love to all those neglected animals but I get the love back in return. They are so appreciative and forgiving and also a good therapy whenever I am down. I love taking the dogs out for a walk and seeing how excited they get to just get out of their cages. Their love is so unconditional it’s unbelievable. Volunteering has also helped me meet other great volunteers who share the same passion about these animals. I made a lot of good friends with all these other volunteers that I am

grateful for. Adopted Dogs in January!
