The Lord’s Invitation

D&C 133:15

Mark the word Babylon in verses 5, 7, and 14. What is Babylon? How do we go “out from Babylon”? What have you done to remove yourself from

worldly influences? Why is the principle in D&C 133:15 critical?

While we are powerless to alter the fact of the Second Coming and unable to know its exact time, we can accelerate our own preparation and try to influence the preparation of those around us.

What if the day of His coming were tomorrow? If we knew that we would meet the Lord tomorrow—through our premature death or through His unexpected coming—what would we do today? What confessions would we make? What practices would we discontinue? What forgivenesses would we extend?

If we would do those things then, why not now? Why not seek peace while peace can be obtained? If our lamps of preparation are drawn down, let us start immediately to replenish them.

Second Coming Events

True or False? (D&C 133:46-48; Isa. 63:2-4; Rev. 19:13)

Christ will appear clothed in pure white dazzling clothing at the second coming.

At the second coming… Seas will boil! Mountains will melt!

and Stars will hurl!

True or False? (D&C133:40-49)

New York, Albany, and Boston will be destroyed

You will say: That was in the days when Presidents Benson and Maughan presided over us; that was before New York was destroyed by an earthquake; it was before Boston was swept into the sea, by the sea heaving itself beyond its bounds; it was before Albany was destroyed by fire; yea, at that time you will remember the scenes of this day. Treasure them up and forget them not.' President Young followed and said: 'What Brother Woodruff has said is revelation and will be fulfilled.'" (In Lundwall, Temples of the Most High, pp. 97–98.)

True or False? (D&C 84:114)

"I have asked of the Lord concerning His coming; and while asking the Lord, He gave a sign and said, 'In the days of Noah I set a bow in the heavens as a sign and token that in any year that the bow should be seen the Lord would not come; but there should be seed time and harvest during that year: but whenever you see the bow withdrawn, it shall be a token that there shall be famine, pestilence, and great distress among the nations, and that the coming of the Messiah is not far distant'" (Smith, Teachings, pp. 340–41).

There will be drought (no rain) before His return?

True or False?

True or False? (Isa.12; D&C 133:52)

When the Lord returns, we will all want to praise the Lord and thank Him for his kindness?

True or False? (Isa.11:6-8; 65:25)

All people will be vegetarians in the Millennium?

“…man and all forms of life will be vegetarians in the coming day; the eating of meat will cease, because, for one thing, death as we know it ceases. There will be no shedding of blood, because man and beast are changed (quickened) and blood no longer flows in their veins.” (Bruce R. McConkie, The Millennial Messiah: The Second Coming of the Son of Man [Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Co., 1982], 658.)

True or False? (Isa.65:17; Rev. 21:1; D&C 101:25)

The earth will be so beautiful during the Millennium that the memory of our earth as it is now will fade away?

True or False? (Isa.14:12-17; Rev. 20:3)

We will not believe how wimpy Satan looks when we see him after the second coming?

True or False? (Isa.62:4; DC 133:23-24)

The continents will come back together at the second coming?

True or False? (Isa.65:21)

We will not eat or live in homes during the Millennium?

True or False? (Isa.65:20)

Children born in the Millennium will live to be 100 years old and then be twinkled into a resurrected being, not having a chance to be buried.

True or False? (Isa. 65:19)

Everything that is now wrong will be made right…during the Millennium there will be no tears of sorrow shed.
